I'll trade that blowjob for a program that let's me color the tiles instead doing it manually in MsPain, thank you.

Most programming languages give you a tint command, both available in RGB and in HSV. Wink That's the idea behind this kind of thing.

This is great stuff Smiley

Takes me back to when I used a program called Vidcom 64 to make these kinds of tile-sets on the Commodore 64 in the late-80s Smiley

Here is a screen-shot of my most accomplished attempt from the era: 1-bit version of the first boss from R-Type with 4-bit color over/under layer.

If you want a PC-tool to do more or less the same thing (which mostly includes respecting boundary restrictions on colors), you might want to try out "ConGo": http://www.editorix.org/congo/index.html

Bump on this thread because it is so awesome.

I just discovered these, and would like to use them on a charityware RPG game. Can anyone tell me where the tiles can be had these days, and what the licensing rules might be? Bingle searches have come up dry for me, so I am asking here directly.

Thanks!

As of 7.9.2014 (today) I've changed the tileset licence so it isn't free anymore.

A c64 and a ZX spectrum mockup also.
