Thanks crbonilha, Playaction and LanziVision!

Now that the hair color system is done I could add it to the editor:

And so I can figure out how I'll do the Great Painters. I can use this editor or give them unique looks.

I'm thinking of creating a screen for each Great Painter with some info about their life, personality, achievements and most famous works (as pixelated paintings). I think that would be fun to do.

I decided I'll make Great Painters in the editor. If I don't have a good enough asset (hair, clothing), I'll make it and put it in the game.

This is Sandro Botticelli. More soon.

She's looks cute. Aww damn, it was a longhaired man. Why do I keep making that mistake from a distance.  Facepalm

The long hair makes it look a bit like his sister (Sandra Botticelli?). I guess the character size makes it a little hard to tell a longhaired man from a woman. Do the women have dresses?

Leonardo da Vinci in old age:

Had to make some new assets for this one.

Women have their own set of clothes, but yeah, sometimes it's hard to differentiate them at this sprite size. There are male/female symbols in the UI to indicate gender, though.

Such a cool concept, love it!

Thanks!

They both have a lot of personality. It's impressive how much you manage to squeeze out of so few pixel.

Based on her self-portraits.

That's what I'm going for with this game. Hopefully it will work!  Wink

What else could the player customize? I thought of letting the player choose a guild emblem, but that's purely aesthetic. Another thing I will probably include is customizing the starting guild master. Any other ideas?

Looks good. From playing the demo, I would rather customize the first apprentice than the guild master, as he's the one to lead the guild to greatness. The old guild master is yesterdays news.

I have two suggestions
  • Choose wether they are locals or just moved here from another town (very important in those days)
  • Allow them to select a principal patron (a bishop, statesman, trader etc)

Thanks for the ideas, guys. Even if I don't include them exactly, they spark interesting thoughts.

Lucas, you know I'm your friend and I love you, but the logo needs to be rescaled to match the other poor pixels.

(I tend to agree with that, but I tried way back and it didn't look good. This is not perfect but I found it better than the alternative.)

2/10 not buying it

Btw, even the sunglasses' pixel ratio is fucked.
