streams over! thanks to everyone who stopped by! as we did that, we managed to get a new build done! here it is! https://www.dropbox.com/s/prrscsq8e7yk9iz/a%20mans%20dream%20build%204.exewe added a new set of backgrounds, energy flowers, a story using my voice that is going to need someone other than me (wip voice over story pretty much), LOTS of fixing of levels, a way to get into the testing room (hah, ill never tell you! it requires three buttons pressed), and a lot more stuff that i probably forgot to add!

for all you lazy folks out there, heres a gif of the player moving and transitioning between 2 rooms theres also the character collecting a key which unlocks a door.

heres one of the jump that uses up energy (if you lose all energy the game resets. you can practically fly if you had the energy)

alright! heres another update to this! ive been working on voicing a character that is sort of a guilty spark or a wheatley of my game, a character that lived on this world before crap went down. its fun doing voice acting, but i kinda want to get someone elses professional experience in voicing the guy. ive also "perfected" my breaking blocks. you know the ones, the ones that break after you move over them. they are a bit glitchy, granted, but they work, and i have to call that a success.
uhm, ive also remapped the sprinting button to one button on controllers due to it being simply annoying to work with on my controller with the broken-ish right bumper. sigh.
thats about it! im gonna post some screenshots at one point, but thats what ive been working on.

hey guys! a bit of an update! i've managed to get a working options menu, a play button, and a quit button! pressing escape no longer closes the game, instead it brings you back to the main menu where said buttons are situated. this is my first time ever making a main menu and adding customizable options to one of my games, so im really excited that its a success!

i've found a guy who is most likely going to be voicing echo, and helping with testing! Yay! so yah... and then there were two.

one of my last backgrounds for one of the last areas, the BADLANDS! yes it doesnt look like much but its good enough. i might end up making like sandy coloured blocks to go along

so i got those .wav files back for echos voice over by a mr josh terry brand, who also has a youtube, ill link it in a bit, and OH MY GOSH hes good. like, seriously, hes amazing at voiceovers, at least for echos character. he got the character down pat so easily its scary. it looks like we have out voiceover guy! hes done his job admirably too. expect to hear his voice in the future echo recordings! Also: ive got new animations done for the main character. it looks like 110% better and im actually happy with how it turned out. so yah. new walking animations and a new voice for echo! pretty coool! also i fixed the level setup so that the hardest levels arent like the second and third levels. cause, you know, thats how games do these things. they dont have extremely difficult levels followed by cakewalks. i think. maybe. alright thats it from me! thanks again! ill see you in A mans dream. -connor EDIT: link to josh terry brand: https://www.youtube.com/user/joshua5952840

OH MAN GUYS. second amazing thing to happen in a single week. it looks like we have a composer for a mans dream now too. Jeez things are going well! :L he does mainly electronic/chiptune kinda stuff. it sounds great! so yah, things are coming together like crazy!

also i took a bit of a break today to get a book, do some concepting, purchase crap, and just have fun. a great day, but ill need to get back to work for the next 2 days since schools starting on monday.

awright its been a while but i have news! we now have three of the four full songs included in the soundtrack for my game. i might end up making the soundtrack part of the game file.
heres a snippet of what is soon to be the fourth and final track: the title music :D

hey guys! sent out a quick hotfix for a mans dream that dealt with several game breaking bugs, man, how did i not see them sooner, i have no idea. it was an idea i originally had that caused it. i wanted to make it so when you collided with blocks from the side, the character had a hanging animation, but i scrapped it and forgot to get rid of the code, so it crashed when you collided with the ground. oops. well, its fixed now, hopefully, so enjoy! all you need to do to get the fix is reinstall the game.
