We (bunch of indie devs) have just released the alpha of Below Kryll! We have limited the registration numbers, to be able to test our server load; And would love feedback about our creation and our editor (if you manage to get that far!) Play it here: http://game.belowkryll.com/ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aEo4DeNIZpo&feature=youtu.beFeatures:- Be a part of one ever growing world, where nothing is random generated - all the content is made by other players, including NPCs, quests, gadgets, background drawings and more
- Smooth animations (like prince of persia) and a unique pixelated art style
- Original ambient soundtrack
- Advance your character and unlock new abilities and areas around the world to explore, be the ultimate explorer trying to conquer a player generated world
Editing features:- Editing tools that are extremely streamlined - with a stroke of a brush a terrain filled with random decorations will be created, butterflies, living mushrooms - all will meld into a unique area with nearly zero effort
- Create elaborate puzzles with triggers and logic gates, action areas with monsters and lots of fighting, stories with quests and NPCs or just pure platforming areas.
- Get fame from the community for making awesome areas, and unlock epic items for your editing.
Enjoy!

I'm playing on a soundless pc, with bad performance, bad keyboard etc, so my impression is a little incomplete for now.
I like the idea! I got confused by the terms "real world" and... whatever the other thing was. But I believe the main game really is the real world part, where players create areas of their own and connect to the others and so on. It's kind of like a platformer with level editor, but instead of a boring level menu you have them all connected in one big world. Plus, character progression blends well with this scheme.
The tutorial was pretty funny. I was thinking the tutorial was poorly made but then the character started reacting the same way I did, so I realized it was intentionally trolling me. Funny.
Visually this is all over the place.
The rest I can't really comment until I try it again on my own pc. But one thing about the controls I can say now: space bar, e, x, m and backspace are so distant from each other. There's no comfortable place for the hand that allows me to play without looking at the keyboard occasionally.

Excellent feedback diegzumillo You definitely understood the concept of the game well, and gave some good pointers. This is not a simple game idea to explain in-game without lengthy tutorial texts that nobody usually reads - so it's definitely one of our biggest challenges.

Of course, we are:
Renboy (me) - the lead designer and client programmer of the game Smackware - the server programmer and lead artist Gregie - artist Phyro - artist
The game evolved a lot in the past year that we were working on it - from a simple concept it grew into something that we are quite proud of.
Obviously we still have a lot of work - based on the community inputs and our original plans. Definitely will be interesting where this project leads.

Any of you have homepages or blogs? There is literally nothing on the web about this game or the team except the game itself

There is literally nothing on the web about this game or the team except the game itself We are still working on those things, but you can get to the main site at http://www.belowkryll.com - we have a blog and forum there. There is also a facebook page and twitter. Any suggestion, or comment on the game would be greatly appreciated!

Well, I can't say I like that you have to double tap to run , or that there are no xbock controls

Great game! Pretty funny too! Moving and jumping felt great (Just wish you can remap the controls) and concept is pretty neat! it was fun just seeing what the real world had to offer and it wasn't too frustrating when I died about 50 times due to the fact that i can just quickly try again or teleport to another area and give it a go.
