Hello everybody, I am Stefan and I am happy to announce that we are currently working on the sequel for BLOO KID, which will be coming out later this year for iOS and Android devices. We are happy to share as much information about the game as we can with you :-)
For those of you that are unfamiliar with the first game: BLOO KID is a retro-one-screen-platforming-game that was released back in 2011 for iOS and Android devices.
While BLOO KID was developed with the very well-known Corona framework, BLOO KID 2 is developed with the lesser known Monkey framework. Monkey's big plus is that it offers a lot more flexibility compared with Corona. We think about iCade Support, a port for OUYA and Windows Phone maybe. On the other hand in Monkey you have to do a lot of stuff yourself, like the UI. But have a look at yourself at it, if you are interested: http://www.monkeycoder.co.nz/Monkey/about.php
BLOO KID 2 will differ greatly from the first game. It will feature many new enemies and power-ups. But the biggest changes are: No one-screen levels anymore, all levels will scroll. Also, while the only goal in BLOO KID was to stomp all enemies in each level, you can play BLOO KID 2 in various ways. You can still get an achievement for killing all monsters, but you can also earn one for beating the clock or collecting all secrets. We want to give you frequent updates via this devlog. Of course we would be also happy if you "like" our game on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/pages/Bloo-Kid/123783531046269
This is our first gameplay video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bt2kxwUHGqU
And here are some screenshots:

I had a go of Bloo Kid on Android. It's a competent little platformer with a solid look and tight controls.
This new project looks to be pretty cool. I dig the look and feel, and more expansive levels with more monsters, and more goals could be pretty entertaining.
Look forward to seeing where this goes :D

So, before I am off for the weekend (it's unbearingly hot here in Germany) some more insight on what we have planned for BLOO KID 2 and the current status of development!
We are aiming for a release in Q4 2013 on iOS and Android platforms. The game will be a universal app and the iOS version will feature iCade support. It is planned to port the game to Windows Phone, Ouya, (maybe) Nintendo 3DS and XBLIG. These versions will come out later.
The first release will contain 3 worlds with 9 levels for each one (including a boss battle in each world), so we will have 27 levels at launch. All levels can be played in "easy", "medium" and "hard" difficulty mode. More levels will be added via game updates.
World 1 is content complete now (including Level Design and Music/Sound). As always, there is still some polishing to be done and naturally, still some bugs are left to fix (no critical ones anymore, yay!). At the moment we are working on World 2 (new enemies and Level Design). We hope to move on to World 3 in 3-4 weeks.

Those of you who have played the first game know, that in BLOO KID the only goal in each level was to stomp all enemies - quite unusual for a platforming game. A lot of players - even some of those who actually liked the game quite a bit - found that a little too repetitive in the long run. So in BLOO KID 2 we want to implement half a dozen challenges for each level: 1. Catch the balloon! 2. Collect all stars! 3. Collect all (secret) blue stars! 4. Stomp all enemies! 5. Survive with full health! 6. Beat the clock!

We are done now with about 50% of World 2. So time for a new screenshot, I think :-) One thing a lot of people were complaining about in the first game was the complete lack of Power-Ups. As you can see on the screenshot, there are Power-Ups in the new game. BLOO KID on fire! :-)

We are very busy at the moment, because we are preparing a version for BLOO KID 2 we can show next week at the Gamescom in Cologne. World 2 of BK 2 has been almost finished, so I want to show you a new image from the game :-)

This looks like a ton of fun! I used to play a lot of platformers like this. Will you be making a PC port at some point?

Last week we have been to the Gamescom in Cologne and it was really cool! At the evening before the Gamescom started there was a "Big Indie Pitch" hosted by Pocketgamer and SEGA in downtown Cologne. Despite short notice, we decided to pitch BLOO KID 2 there. And today Pocketgamer had an article that mentioned BLOO KID 2 among some other cool indie games as one of the "hottest prospects" from the event :-) http://bit.ly/183KTrm

World 2 of BLOO KID 2 is now finished with "final" graphics and audio. Level Design for World 3 is in progress. We have decided that we want to "hand out" a version of BLOO KID 2 to some testers next week, once the critical bugs of World 2 are fixed. So if you'd like to playtest the game, drop me a message! All you need is an iDevice and the "Test Flight" App! And here are some new screenshots! Nice sunday everybody!

Just a suggestion, you might want to change the obvious Thwomps and Kirby tree boss to something more original ..

Hi, sorry for not posting a very long time. Due to some professional and private changes I did not find much time to spend online. Anyway, the first 3 worlds of BLOO KID are finished. These 3 worlds will comprise the first release (2 more worlds are planned!) We are aiming at a release in March. More precisely the 6th of March! Also, Jörg did an interview for the Britisch website RETROGAMEGEEKS last week. Here's the link: http://www.retrogamegeeks.co.uk/#!eiswuxe/cw8l Finally, since I have not posted here any screenshots from world 3 yet, here are some :-)
