rnik's game sounds crazy. I'm Intrigued

But I have my own game I can't remember.

A little while ago, I think during a game jam, someone made this little arena shooter thing where you could become any of the enemies you encountered and use their abilities to fight on. It was very low rez, basically monochrome but not quite, and the floor of the arena had this cool glowy effect. Does anyone know what the hell I'm talking about? I really liked it and I can't remember the name, developer, or find it anywhere. It's driving me nuts.

OK, so I’m looking for a relatively old PC game. It was a fantasy RPG. It also is not in the traditional 3D third-person perspective of other RPG’s, but the perspective looked like XCOM IIRC and I think you were only able to move in a grid. You took control of either a male or female main character. I can’t remember the female, but the male character had red hair that (I think) had tied in a braid, and I think his name was “Gladiator” or something like that. You start out in what I think was a fighting pit where there are a few enemies which you kill easily, and then you get a pair of boots as a gift. After that you are left to wonder freely in the world. Along the way you get better armor and weapons, and you can also get some companions to help you out on your journey. I used to play it when I was a kid and spending hours in front of the PC monitor playing it. It was around maybe 2003-2004 time that I played it, but it’s probably older than that.

Thanks in advance!

No, it's not really that. The game I'm talking about was not that old. They were 3D models, and the quality of the graphics looked more like World of Warcraft. But the perspective is similar to this game you're presenting, though more zoomed in IIRC.

Huh. That sounds a lot like Gladius but that wasn't released on PC.

Anyone remember that game from PS1 where you were some asshole laying traps in a big haunted castle or mansion or some such? It was pretty spooky. I think it was Japanese made. I believe at the beginning you...kill the king, or your brother, or something, and then Satan comes along.

I could be completely off. This might not exist, but I'm almost certain that I watched my brother play this all of the time when I was a kid.

Trapt and Blood Ties are both on there, and those are in that series.

- Short game, from a few years back
- Black and white (1-bit, I guess?), pixels, tiny resolution
- Start as a pixel or a square
- Gain new abilities and change shape as you collect pixels or something
- At the end you're some kind of dragon or gargoyle and you breathe fire ?

Thanks!

edit: Maybe it was gameboy-tones instead of black and white?

It was mentioned earlier in this thread and no one knew what it was.

Around 2003ish I played a 3D game where you were a jester or a jester was a tutorial character and told you how to play, it was medieval setting, and you could build castles and then walk around them with first person view. It was a really strange game, I may have been too young to know there was any gameplay but all I remember is building the castles on a grid system with an RTS like top down camera.
The graphics were quite simple if I recall correctly, and heavy white fog. I'd love to see that game again.

The premise (as far as I can remember it) was that every time you moved to a different tile you aged a year and eventually your character would die. I believe you could then take over one of your other family members and keep playing. IIRC it was top-down as well, although some bits of the game were landscape view, it had a cartoony style. I think there was stuff like quests and setting up homes/houses in it as well but I can't remember it that well. It was still in development last time that I saw it.

I've searched through the forums but can't find the game at all, I'm sure it was on here but I might be wrong about that. It might have been included in one of the tigsource devlog magazine things, but I've looked through those that I can find and nothing comes up.

Any ideas what game it might be?
