Treasure Adventure Game?
nope, but thanks! It felt very dream-like and I don't think the music was as cheery. -- EDIT though now that i thhink about it, i'm fairly sure there was chest-opening involved.

There was this MSDOS game, platformer, where you were a snowman, and, at the end, it gave you a image with him on vacation or something sipping a drink I think it might have had an umbrella in it (the drink), and, he could have been melting. No, wait when you got hit enough you melted, I think. I was like 5 when I last played this game and I can't find it. I have searched all the MS DOS ROM sites i could find

@eyeliner Sounds like Forsaken, except for that visible gun. Nah, biomechanic. I've seen the most famous games from the era, and mine is not in that list...

Holy shit, that's it! So strange to see it again after 20-odd years. Cannot remember this. Scouring old indiegames blogs and can't find it.
I know it was a pixel-art platformer, which narrows it down a tiny bit.
I think you started out in a village. At some point you revisited the village to go into a house or lighthouse, and then in there you entered some catacombs of sorts. Outside the village was a jungle...I think...and then some sort of castle-y thing, and at the far end was this open desert at evening or night.
There was some osrt of gliding powerup. I just remember the game was very mysterious from what I felt at the time, but I Can't find it.
Sounds like Knytt, or Knytt Stories; there was an umbrella you could use to glide.

Ok here's a game I don't remember much about, used to play it in the early 00's, you control a hover(?) tank, in a sci-fi-ish setting, lasers and automatic turrets and shit, it was mission-based, although very linear, you engage in battles with other vehicles and maybe robots (not sure) in open spaces, there was a shore so it was probably an island.
I remember one area of what looked like the enemy's fortress protected with laser gates, and you have to destroy a generator or something to bypass it.
Aaaand here it is: "Recoil" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e9CBPfJbqW4

I don't suppose anyone knows/remembers a point and click game that was played in primary school on a computer where you are in a witch's house and you have to escape or something? The only parts I remember are a snake at the top of a staircase which you have to defeat in order to see what it's guarding and a cupboard with a red broom inside. If you click on the red broom a witch's face appears on the screen and you lose. You have to do a series of things in the house and then a green broom will appear in the cupboard, which you have to click on in order to get out of the house. There were many more things afterwards like a cave of some sort but I can't think of it, I was in primary school in the late 90's if that helps.

Not sure if this should be posted here, but I found an indie game on here about a year ago. It was isometric and let you use L and K or [ and ] to pan around the character. I believe it was made with Game Maker. It had these strange colours and often you walked out over voids, it was very pixelly, I think it had a name with all caps like LOVE or PASSAGE. I think it was about finding your sister. He started making another game in similar style but I never heard from hat again. I know this is a bad description but it's all I remember.

Got a few I keep forgetting to post:
Futuristic DOS motorcycle combat + racing game, where each character has a distinctive bike. It was 2.5D or 3D, but I'm sure bikes are shown as multidirectional sprites. It was released as official abandonware on some game magazine disc roundabout 1999.
2D top-down multiplayer-focused action/strategy game set in space (but it has bots). Has Newtonian physics, and plays a bit like Subspace/Continuum as far as action goes, but you also physically drag colonies out to different star systems and have them develop ships and such. Windows game. Was featured prominently on CNET's Download.com around 2000, title may have something to do with 'colony'.
Here's a weird one- I remember the name but can't find any sign it ever existed. Around 2000 there was a promising 3D freeware game in development, with public alphas, called SNAFU. Some kind of tactical action deal with tanks, mechs, and infantry. Dark and muddy graphics. Probably DOS, but might by Windows. Anyone remember this?

Alright, this has been bugging me for years. I remember going to a day-care, and we could take turns playing on a PS1/N64/Something in that era. A few simple words will give me a rush of nostalgia.
There was this giant holding onto a cliff, you had to attack it's fingers.
It also had a multiplayer mode. I don't remember much, but some twat would always make it to the upper cannon and destroy everyone else. People complaining about this caused us to lose console privledges.
One last thing, an escort mission. And a health potion.

You couldn't be talking about FOAM, could you? It was posted less than half a year ago and it uses J+K (on keyboard) to rotate. Also, it has nothing to do with any sister, it's about bringing an umbrella to a girl.

> Yes! Yes it was! Thanks :D years I've been trying to remember what this game was called, although I must have played the updated version as it was cartoonish and not it bit form but thank you!
Happy to help. Ever since I was helped out earlier in the thread I've been looking for a chance to jump in and help someone in return. :} Granny's Garden was released on a bunch of systems. I first played the original version on the BBC Micro version back in school myself. :} Later versions had graphical updates- you probably played one of them. I'm guessing the screenshots on this page are a little closer to what you remember then (scroll down): http://www.4mation.co.uk/cat/granny.html

A game was on here a while ago, it was an RPG/Card game made in flash. It was going to be on mobile devices as well as PC I believe. There was no overworld, just endless battles.

There was a game made in Game Maker that I played a while ago. I think it was turn based, and might have involved some type of tanks or vehicles. It was top down with pixel graphics with a predominantly greyish-green palette.
