Ok.. here's a tricky one for you.
The URL and surrounding site was in polish.
It was one of the best damn escape the room games ever. There was a briefcase, multiple keypads, photorealistic graphics, lots of tricky puzzles.
..and last time I saw the site, it was down. Anyone have the .swf saved, or know where it is?

Okay, there is an atari (2600, 5200?) ggame that was akin to montezumas revenge, only with the character jumping on fruits (bananas and apples?) to get cash.

When I was small (so... 12 years ago. wow)

There was a game which may have been kind of monochromatic. It may have been purple or green or maybe yellow or something (maybe it changed between levels), and I'm pretty sure it was played on a computer of some sort.

You walked around with buildings in the background (it was a sidescrollery platformery kinda deal), and I don't think there were any enemies. You could go into doors behind you (in the background), and... that's about the extent of my memory.

Why don't I remember more about this damned game?! Angry

Anyway, if you successfully identify this... I will love you forever.

Also for some reason I remember it being a little scary. There wasn't anything jumpy-scary, just an odd sense of tension, of apprehension. Then again, I was little, so maybe it wasn't scary at all.

I'm trying to find an old GameBoy Colour game. If I remember correctly, it played a lot like Gauntlet. Top down action game, dungeon crawling, seemed really repetitive. The only other detail I remember was there being an icy dungeon/level. If I'd have to say the style, I'd go with realism, again, think gauntlet or something like castlevania.

EDIT: Looking at it again. It MAY have been the GBC port of Gauntlet. But I'm only about 50% sure on that. So if anyone has any ideas on what it could possibly be otherwise, I'm still interested in hearing it.

Just wanted to say I found out what game it was. Warriors of Might and Magic. Sorry, that's the only video I could find of it.

@Droqen: I'd like to say Commander Keen, with the whole walking into background doors and platforming, but if it's not, I'd suggest looking through Apogee's library, since monochromatic, pc, platforming definitely sounds like them. Perhaps Bio Menace or Monster Bash?

Aahh, definitely more monochromatic than these.

I kind of recall the background being this awfully blank off-white colour, but it could also have been just black? The floors and buildings were almost definitely one colour (but maybe not always the same one?).

Apogee. hmm.

If anyone finds this one, I will be thoroughly amazed.  All I can remember is that it was a platformer with a blue background on the IBM PcJr!  Also, the creators of the game had really high scores on it that were hard to beat.

There was some arcade fighting game I saw once, with gameplay kinda like a mixture of Super Smash Bros and Tekken, where it was a 3D fighting game with some raised platforms. I only remember two characters fairly well; one of them was some guy who used grenades and other explosives, and the other was a wolf. The wolf was easily the cheapest character in the game, and everyone beat the game with it; the final boss also happened to be the wolf, and when it lost it jumped off the side of the stage. Then the credits started rolling, and in the meantime you got to fight some kind of mutant wolf thingy while you watched the credits. The credits boss was basically impossible, and really your reward for winning the game was to get raped by a mutant wolf.

This was definitely an arcade game, and anyone who can name this will be my best friend forever.

Based on my hazy memories of it, and the Wikipedia article, I'm thinking it might be Ehrgeiz?

Eh, worth a shot...

Commodore 64 flight combat sim (in the loosest sense of that word), controlled with the joystick, with space bar to change weapons. Before embarking on a mission, you had to load up your plane with weapons, restricted by a weight limit. Landing happened automagically. It was pretty much on rails. Cockpit perspective.

Been trying to remember the name of this one game for a while. It was a PC game, released probably around '98-'99. Sort of an Artillery/Worms/Gravity Wars-like game, 2D hotseat multiplayer shooter, played in space around planets. Each planet had its own gravitational force which would weaken as it got blown up. You had to use this force to your advantage to maneuver missiles to hit your opponents. Low-res VGA graphics. Came with a weapon editor. I only ever played the demo (came on a PC Gamer disc), which had one map, but I think the full game was supposed to have thousands of (randomly generated?) maps.

Edit: Never mind, it was WarHeads.

Ok, SHMUP meets fighting game.
Graphics like the Touhou games, girls in dresses etc.
It was a 2D fighter, but you could shoot bullets. If you were dashing, you could go through bullets.. interesting mechanic.
Anyone remember?

Got it. "2d fighting game dashing can dodge bullets" on google found a wiki. Some guy had a blog about the game strategy somewhere, too.

I assume since he said "Graphics like the Touhou games" that it isn't one of them, though it certainly does sound like he's talking about Touhou. That said, if it isn't one of them I'd like to know what it is.

Looks awesome. Apparently has online too.

Thread: Class of strategy games where one player moves from node to node, and the other player breaks nodes.. the goal is for one player to escape and the other to block them. It's a "Class" of game (has a wikipedia article), there are a few Java implementations and I'm sure some flash games floating around.

I just read this entire thread and I was amazed by your knowledge! Perhaps, after all these years, you will help me find this missing game...

This game was all black on white, all the background was white and the drawings and character were black.
There wasn't much action, it was more about exploring - you could go left, right, up and down and every choice would bring you to a new screen.
The view was fixed third person, like an old point and click quest, but it was with the keyboard (I'm not sure a mouse was very popular back then).

I had this game on an old 5" disk that had a hand written label on it, I think it said "treasure hunt", but that name does not have to be the real name of the game (I didn't find a match searching for "treasure hunt" anywhere).
