1849 is a city management sim, set during the California Gold Rush.

Your goal is to found and manage mining settlements that mine gold and silver, and supply towns that will provide food and resources. In each settlement, you will need to hire miners, build them houses and shops, and then build and manage businesses that will produce goods, and keep those shops stocked.

We're huge fans of classic city building games (Caesar 3, Zeus, Children of the Nile, SimCity, you name it, we've played it). But we haven't been seeing a lot of these lately, especially on tablets. So we decided to build a game we'd want to play. Smiley

The goal is to have this out primarily on tablets (it's the perfect platform for playing sim games!), as well as a downloadable PC version, and maybe a web version.

UPDATE: We're live on Steam! http://store.steampowered.com/app/290970
HUGE THANK YOU to everyone who votes for us! :D

First and foremost, I love City Building games, so am going to follow this thread very closely. I think you have picked a very good era for basing your game on.

And the screenshots look impressive.

Thanks! Smiley

And once we're ready for a public beta, I'll definitely post a link here!

I too like a good city management game and I like the premise of this one. The buidings look good though could use some variations especially when two of the kind are next to each other. But that will improve over time, I'm sure. Good luck with it!

I see two different styles. Some buildings are cartoony, other are 3D.

I think the cobbler and tailor buildings are sketches if you look closely at the linework.

Looking good so far.  City building games are great the the 49 goldrush is the perfect time-frame for it.

Keeping an eye on this one.   Smiley

We're building it in Flash, so the tech will support PC, as well as iOS and Android tablets!

As for which of these will come out first - well, we'll cross that bridge once we get to it. Smiley

This art is breathtaking.   Shocked

If I had one tiny complaint, its that the word "Textiles" is slightly slanted compared to the wall.

Sweet! It wouldn't look out of place in an AAA stategy game from a few years back tbh. Really cool. I like how the building have a sign and a text telling what they are. In case one can't read then there's always the sign, right. Smiley

Are all buildings on 1 square or will there be buildings like 1x2 or 2x2? Or is this a stylistic choise? I imagine a place like a sawmill would be a bit longer. Or a train station. Please add steam trains huffing and puffing as they bring goods and whatnot .. Beg

Heh, thank you, glad you like them! It's all Eddie's great work - and these are not even final assets. Smiley

As for buildings, they're all 1x1 or 2x2, to make life and layout easier, so no asymmetrical buildings. But the ones that need space, like mines and farms and lumber yards, are appropriately larger.

And we definitely want a train! When that'll happen is still an open question, but we all want it. Smiley
