but you gotta indoctrinate every child with mario and bowser and all the other recognizable faces so that you can sell them better

and coming up with new characters and stories is hard and probably costs MONEY D:

Yo this is just a guess, but I think the level designs in Mario Galaxy took more time and money than it would've taken to write a new story for a Super Mario game.

I'm afraid galaxy 1 was totally overdone and sunshine is the worst offender.

I thought Galaxy 2 rocked - It was (for me) a perfect sequel. The increased challenge and variety in the levels was just perfect for me after finishing galaxy 1.

smg2 was better than smg1 but still nothing amazing.

random annoyances:
-too much reused music (from smg1 and 2 itself, if they ever use the bee music again im gonna raeg. and at this point i honestly don't care about the nostalgia factors of the even older songs anymore.)
-minimal environments again (compare the first flight level to nearly everything else, shame that we only get to fly over it)
-still not difficult enough for me
-coins and starbits are now even more pointless
-running gimmicks again like the dumb minigames from the monkey.
-comet medals are pointless. from however many there were of them, there was ONLY ONE that i missed the first time playing the level.
-also no story at all is better than todays excuse plots.
-powerups. what powerups? dunno. (well, the cloud is used a lot but that's about it)
-luigi (more because its pointless to actually use him.)

unlike most people, i actually liked the green stars.
okay, just the well hidden ones. they were like the only thing that forced you to do clever things.

it's a good game but it just continues further down the line of secretly unimaginative and retarded in the wrong places new-age nintendo.
