I got to see the game in action at PAX recently. I have to admit, I was rather surprised at the slow speed of a lot of the movements, and especially some of the transitions. I think the "turn-the-world" speed is fine. That particular effect is always a treat to watch, so it's current rate felt pretty good. But a lot of the non-interactive transitions, such as going in and out of doors, felt really slow and sluggish. I think the game might benefit somewhat if those were sped up a tad to make them a bit "snappier."
For the most part, the speed of the character's movement seemed fine. It was a bit on the slow side, but this is a puzzle game, not an action game. A more deliberate pace for the character's movements ties into the gameplay.
I think it's worth speeding the game up in areas where control is taken away from the player.

All screenshots must be presented in this form forever. even if switching from 2D to 3D isn't a gameplay mechanic, it must be implemented.

A slow rotate like that would be the best idle. If you sit still too long, the world just starts turning.

That is actually a great idea! And easy to do, too.

I totally agree! Please make this happen, guys! That is actually a great idea! And easy to do, too.
Will it quickly snap back to the original orientation when input returns? Will Gomez eventually start tapping his foot?

Sure. Foot tapping : probably not, but he goes to sleep and plays with his hat and whatnot. There's a couple of idles.
