Droquen gonna change my name to NICK FURY (get it?) ~ arbitrary 3d lookaround is awesome, and I'm sad it's (apparently) gone. I'm talking about 3d glasses causing 3d effect while Fez is 2d - i'd have no qualms with 3d glasses causing 3d effect while Fez is 3d lookarounding.

I actually thought the current version was still like that. The main point I'm trying to argue is that the 2D view has to be in 2D, which has no bearing on how the 3D is displayed. They could show the 3D image by painting the tiles onto virtual ducks and having them fly in place and it would still make no difference.
I did also mention that it would look awkward to switch from 2D to 3D but I would be happy to be wrong on that.

I didn't want to say this in any circunstance but here it goes:
Work on the game instead of going to another festival that you already won to steal the thunder to another game. (ok promotion "is" important, but FEZ did have lots of it so it doesn't matter. and like allen stated, dick move)

Maybe if he wasn't so busy entering festivals, Fez would be out already.

iirc entering the IGF takes like 10 minutes (assuming you have $95 dollars to throw at it).

Yeah, I edited it to say festivals because the festivals themselves actually take up time and such. My opinion doesn't really matter though. I haven't made a game at all, so I probably shouldn't even have posted.

the only reason Fez got so much exposure is because of the IGF. back then when the IGF was more than just an Oscars wannabe bullshit awards show and actually served to help indies get more exposure rather than pat already known's on the back and say good job.
now people like fish and notch are begrudging others the chance to become more than just unknowns because they want some kind of bullshit recognition or fame. it's disgusting.

Haters gonna hate is all I can say. If the judges don't think it should win again, then it won't. But acting like children because Phil wants to enter his game again FOURS YEARS LATER is pretty laughable to me.

if you don't think something is wrong with them re-entering in which they already won then you kind of missed what the IGF used to be about. celebrating and rewarding unknowns giving them the chance to become more than unknown.
how can other games equally as deserving compete with the likes of Fez which it's development was directly boosted by winning an IGF award. had it not won the IGF and got the press afterwards I doubt you would see much of Fez today, but that's up to debate and I'm sure fish would argue on that. even still, you don't think that's a tad unfair?
calling us childish and saying "haters gonna hate" is even more childish than me trying to have a discussion on the merits of fish re-entering fez into the igf. shut up unless you have something meaningful to say. the four years of development (probably) wouldn't have existed without it winning a previous IGF award.

Who cares, the IGF has lost it's way a bit anyway. It's original brief was to help raise the profile of games that couldn't get themselves noticed. It's evolved into more of a standard awards ceremony these days, which is fine I suppose if that's what they want to do with it. I don't think I'd ever consider entering the modern IGF, as I don't think indie games needs a standard awards ceremony.

Interesting side conversation from twitter: #IGF should either disallow unfinished entries, or disallow entries which have already won @TomSennett The IGF is doing that. As of this year you can't re-enter if you've been a finalist. @jonbeilin @PHIL_FISH begs to differ? @TomSennett @PHIL_FISH I think it only applies to games submitted for the first time after the rule was instated.

the who cares attitude is exactly why the IGF is as shitty as it is now. anna anthropy tried to stand up against it and helped change a few things in the judging process but it's still shit because of people refusing to speak up against it. and others like fish and alec holowka jumping down the detractors' (if you will) throats and calling us names trying to quell and pervert any serious discussion with their ad hominem attacks.

The IGF is a competition that rewards excellence. It's not a charity.
"maybe one day you'll work really hard on something really good and you'll understand. until then, go fuck yourself."
