Ser Fish, seeing Fez, Owlboy and Aquaria were the first reasons I realized becoming an independent game designer was even possible and something I'd be interested in doing for myself. Fez is looking great and I'm looking forward to playing it whenever it's done (plenty else to play until then, folks.)

Thanks for the inspiration and I hope you persevere through the crap and the haters!

I don't know anyone (for now) who hates Fez. I'm thrilled to play it and I think the game deserves the recognition that's having if it's as good as everybody says so. Some people just don't like the decision for Fez to enter the event.  Gomez

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rdq9FlxLDQU&feature=feedu another 20 minute interview/playthrough.
Phil explains a bit more clearly just what kind of game it's going to be.

Though there's not really all that much new information here.

Whether or not it will be good, if you need more money why not start a kickstarter or something like that? If you need more publicity, you could release a demo or similar. You don't have to enter a competition you have already won awards in with the game that won them and steal the spotlight away from people who desperately need it; maybe I am wrong in thinking this but I don't think so.

Whether or not you need the money, you could get a metric buttload of moolah through kickstarter.

If you need more publicity, you could release a demo or similar.

It's not like publicity is a finite thing that can be achieved, every bit helps. When the game gets released, there will be a demo.

Publicly entering the IGF generates publicity.
The resulting fallout generates publicity.
If they win another award at the igf, it would generate publicity.
The potential fallout from the internet regarding that would generate more publicity.

Basically, the more aware of your game's existence people are, in any facet, the better you will do.

If they don't win again - it's not a problem.
If they do win again - they probably deserve it.

If other people "desperately need this" then they should introduce a game that is more compelling and publicize it appropriately. Suggesting they don't enter twice (in my humble opinion) is not dissimilar to saying "well, I'm only going to play if I can win this time. Stop being better then me, or you cant play and I'm telling mom!". It sounds like you're suggesting them enter twice is a dickish move, but I think it's quite the opposite.

I wouldn't disagree in saying it would be perhaps more humble to not enter, but I wouldn't say they're wrong for entering either.

Just my thoughts on it...
