Hey all. I've been using slick2d to build all my games so far, but now, I feel a little bit limited. Although it is a great library, I feel as though the fact that it is discontinued, that there is a very small community, and is difficult to do graphics programming in all make me want to switch libraries. I've been looking into libgdx, but it looks complicated. Has anyone tried both, and can you tell me how much harder libgdx is?

I have not used slick2d, but I am just toying around with the libgdx library for an android game. For a person not very familiar with Java, I think libgdx makes it very easy to develop games. The library is pretty intuitive and has good documentation and tutorial videos.

In about few hours, I had some basic game-play up and running using libgdx.

It is complicated indeed. The first time i took it for learning i gave up, but not the second time. It is not that difficult, just is hard to get into it. Once you know how to make stuff, it saves you much time. Besides, every year Java gets stronger, so odds are soon or later libgdx will get more accesible.
