Heyoooo, is anyone else doing this? I signed up for it and will attempt it this coming weekend. For those of you who are not familiar, it's a 48 hour gamejam running all month where your entry will be played by devs/designers in the industry and will be judged. And they HAVE to play your game; last year there were only 182 entries so that's why the playing is mandated. The downside is that it's $25 to get in and potentially your dreams crushed, but I think it's worth it for the exposure and possible sage advice. This year, these are the (amazing) judges:

Ron Gilbert - MONKEY ISLAND
Markus "Notch" Persson - an unknown 10 hour indie jame game called MINECRAFT
Trent Oster - BALDUR'S GATE: ENHANCED EDITION
Jason Rohrer - PASSAGE
Kim Swift - Portal
Ben "Yahtzee" Croshaw - Zero Punctuation
Justin Ma - FTL
Matthew Davis - FTL
Brian Fargo - Fallout
Ian Dallas - Unfinished Swan
Dan Pinchbeck - Dear Esther, Amnesia: A machine for pigs
Brian Provinciano - Retro City Rampage
Andrew Spinks - Terraria
Suda51 - Killer7, No More Heroes, Killer is Dead, Shadows of the Damned
Amir Rao - Bastion
Greg Broadmore - District 9

I am super psyched to work on this. I think it's hilarious that Peter Molyneux will have to play the game that I make!

For those interested, it's at www.indiespeedrun.com

Apparently in this gamejam you can submit more than one game which I didn't know until now. I have been wasting so much time! ;-;

I didn't know that either!

I'm planning on entering next weekend. I think it's an incredible opportunity get your game seen by some cool people. I suspect there will be a lot more entries this time around.

On a side note, I'm a little horrified at their website's design.

It sounds really interesting, a little thing I noticed though - it does seem like your game will only be judged by one of the selected judges?

Quote from: the FAQ
1) ... our team of genius-level videogame scientists will play through every working entry, and sort them into even groups.

2) Each group is then delivered to one of our amazing judges (whom you can investigate here) who will choose their personal favorite to put forward as a finalist.

Just for clarification, that's still really cool of course.

That's a nice list of video game people except ... Trent Oster? Who thought he has any qualifications whatsoever when it comes to video games? Shouldn't he be hiding in shame after the clusterfuck that was BG:EE?

Is it $25 dollars per game submitted?  I'd rather pay for a friends meal and a bit of playtesting.

It's not $25 per game, it's just $25 per entry, and you can make as many games as you want within separate 48 hour periods.

Well, our game is finally live!

Wish that meant that it's playable, but it looks like the ISR website is having some technical difficulties... but presumably you can check it out here after it's fixed: http://www.escapistmagazine.com/content/indie-speed-run/?game=605

edit: apparently they fixed the embedding, but somehow hosting our html5 game on amazon s3 has broken the loading code... frustrating  Sad

Our game is live! It's called Secret formula. It's a platformer where you play as a lab experiment that can swing around on a vine. Check it out.

Here is mine:

Districter.
http://www.escapistmagazine.com/content/indie-speed-run/?game=512

I lost a day's worth of stuff, due to technical problems, so I could not design proper levels to the game.. IT NEEDS proper level design.

I didn't see this thread before! Otherwise I would've the game earlier. But this news is relevant, since they announced the first five finalists, and my game is one of them! It's called Rebirth 2: The Search for Rebirth 1. Greg Broadmore liked it enough to make it top 15.
Here's the article
