I decided to play some more and found a bug, if you rapid click a card that you don't have enough hope to use, the player gets huge.  Who, Me?
LOL, that ends up looking crazy! Thanks for letting me know. I'll fix it by preventing new chats from coming up while one's active (he bulges while speaking), which looks silly even without this case of gigantism

So I was wondering, why did you make the decision to let the A.I. choose where the main character goes? (Nothing negative to say about it, I think it's actually kinda cool  Grin)

I'm actually not sure why, exactly. It just kind of came to me, very early on, and I thought it might be a fun twist in the genre. I'm still wrestling with the game design complications of that 9 months later!

lol, Well I think it works! It makes me have to think about where to place enemies and weapons, to try to provoke the character to move where I want him to.  Grin

That mechanic is sort of in the vein of Majesty.
Sometimes the AI does not respond very efficiently to the 'carrots' and 'deterrents', but overall, its a much simpler and interesting control scheme. I think the game would be somewhat boring otherwise (too much like other games).

If anyone's in Dublin this weekend and going along to ArcadeCon, I'll be showcasing Guild of Dungeoneering in their games room & appearing on a panel called 'We Are Indie Games' on Saturday. Come say hi!

Update: v0.6.24 July 11th

Changes since the last version
- gigantism bug fixed when repeatedly clicking an unplaceable card
- freeze bug fixed after dungeoneer runs away from a battle
- removed the greenlight mention in the instructions (need to update these more though...)

Play this version:
Browser (Flash)
Installable (AIR)

Just fixing a couple of bugs people have pointed out.

Wait, the dungeoneer can run away from a battle?  Shocked

*Edit*
Yay, I finally beat the Fire Demon!

OK so as mentioned in my Big Game Design Problems post, I'm looking at changing dread into a meter. Which of these is your favorite?

It would be interesting but way out of scope for now. Maybe a sequel or special version with multiplayer.

I've been thinking for a while that it would be nice to be able to fit some more info on the cards. Fred had a neat idea to have them hide the picture on hover so you have more space for the detail text. What do you think?
