Just a little track I started today, this is a short snippet to show the direction I am going with it. It's super sloppy, but YOLO... No just kidding, I hate that so much, but feel free to rip this thing apart.

I liked it but it didn't give me a sense of fear, quite the opposite. It made me imagine a tough guy walking towards his goal.

I like the idea of setting the percussion for the framework for your melody. In my opinion though, if you want to convey fear, utilize some minor chords as well as the diminished scale. Nothing says fear quite like a diminished scale in my opinion.

About fear you can also use changes of chords of one semitone (Ganondorf's theme for the win!  Cheesy)
