A little teaser as to some of the general tone of the game.

Im thinking that maybe the entire thing will be an automated experience, as opposed to the game, The challenge is, how long can you stay in the rift, without going nuts your self.

Day 1 

1. When I was a little girl I had a starman in my closet.


2. I thought I had helped him find his way home.In those days I lay down and my body was his map, His universe.


3. I still don't know what he sees in me, but he's searching for something, all I know is that hes the only one to ever take time to notice me.


4. Day and night he stood guard over me, like i was his Queen. He orbited me, like I was the the sun, the life source of all these alien thoughts fighting for life in his mind.  


5. I wasn't ready for him back then but now I my belly is full of butterflies.

Refining stuff a bit


The game is not so much played, but experienced, through virtual reality, via the Oculus rift.

In this experience you take the role of a Christian missionary, in a far away pagan land. Through undisclosed events , you wake up to find your self the victim of a horrendous and brutal home invasion.

You are unable to move but you can look around the small box room you are sat in, interacting with various things and killing flies, lots of flies.

The soundtrack is the buzzing of these flies and in front of you is an old television, which is telling a story through the medium of teletext (http://portfolio.illarterate.co.uk/ ).
It transpires that, through the shock of what happened to you, you have retreated into your child hood fantasies of the "Starman" in the closet behind you.

As the experience progresses your childhood fantasies merge with deep allegorical/typological mysticism and you begin the quest to work out why he is back and exactly how he is using you to contact other worlds. (amplifying his messages through amniotic fluid)

This of course is all a fantasy....

We are starting from the ground up with this, our first port of call is to make the most realist flies in any game ever, later on in your delusion these flies will act out one of the most unexpected and dramatic scenes we believe to have ever appeared in a game. You sit in the oculus rift and look down at them as they have a Star wars scale dog fight, acting out the "starmans" escape from his Home world ..

This of course is all a fantasy....

To elaborate on that and perhaps help ease you into the atmosphere a bit, we played a bit with lighting up the television and adding some smoke along the floor and some general red ambience.



Still no fly models, no textures... Lots of stuff missing. But pretty moody already.

Im realy pushing for the flies next , cant wait to see them moving.
The plan is, that they can even land on the players Oculus camera...

Some more plot developments

The game is based on these 8 Roman Catholic "Magdalene sisters" responsible for taking children from "fallen", unmarried woman.

Over each of the 8 days you take control of one of them, in the rift.

You are trapped and must endure your captors torment, experience what that day throws at you  before taking your life. Then moving on to the next.


It becomes a study in how each tries to justify her horrific situation through faith.

We have secured an official concept album from Jarboe and Kris force  (the path) .

Holy shit.
Just played the alpha and read through this. This project is INSANE. It touches on some of the most out there and bizarre themes I've ever seen but somehow even while playing the alpha I felt so immersed and genuinely uncomfortable.
I love this.
So glad I read past the first page of this devlog too, the idea seemed interesting and I am happy to see it is evloving quickly into something that sounds amazing.
Keen for that fly AI too!

I'll be keeping a close eye on this.
