Lumena is a no-nonsense rhythm game with music by Modbom coming soon to IOS and Android. The game came out of our love for minimal games like Super Hexagon and the beautiful electric visuals of Tron. We're hoping for a March release.

The game looks very neat. I don't think it's as obvious until you watch the video, but there's a very entrancing affect of the graphics combined with the music.

Thanks. We'll post some actual play footage soon. You definitely can get into a trance mode while playing.

We hammered out the game's description for the app stores. We loved how brief and to the point Super Hexagon's description is, so we were trying to go for something in the same vein.

App Store Description

Lumena is a minimal, no-nonsense rhythm game with an original electronic soundtrack from Modbom.

Playing Lumena is EASY. Fling the colored disc toward a matching colored light.

Succeeding at Lumena is… NOT EASY. You’ve been warned.

What do you guys think? Any feedback would be very appreciated.

This game doesn't look like it has a win condition, it looks like you just play until you fail. So how does one succeed at the game?

Its similar to an endless runner in that respect. Its all about time and seeing how long you can last. New levels are unlocked based on surviving set amount of time. The "win" comes from beating your best time and through leaderboards.

I just found it strange to claim that it is not easy, when I set the win condition myself.
Also I forgot to mention, I like the art style. Reminds me of something that I can't really remember the name of. Also it looks nice and simple.

I see what you are saying, but if you have played Super Hexagon the first level starts at a difficulty level of Hard and goes up from there. It is said to be hard based on the frequency of losses the player experiences. Unlike most rhythm based games, one mistake in our game will result the end of play—again similar to Super Hexagon.

The initial release will have six levels designed specifically for the tracks Modbom has written. Although using your own music is something we have kicked around.

Does anyone have a language translation service that they have had good luck with? We've tried a couple before and had okay results, but we don't speak all the languages so its hard to know for sure. We're going to publish Lumena in 12 like our last game Draw Breaker.

I never used a translation service, just wanted to point out there's already an error in the image, because it's 'Deutsch' instead of 'Deutsche'.

I mean, you could also ask locals. I assume there's not that much text in your game, so I could even check the german parts if you want.

A lot of bug fixes and tweaks have been going on this week. I'm hoping to post some footage of me playing the game tomorrow.

Aaron created some sweet 80s headphones for our best experience screen.

Logo Animation Mockup. (All particles will be animated in final game, this is just a mockup)

We've been working hard getting the game ready for its first public demo coming on the 22nd at the Indie City Games meetup in Chicago. A lot of work has gone into tightening up the level designs and adding some polish through out the game.  I just uploaded a new

Rough "sketch" of the app icon for the game. Overall we like the concept and now its about refining proportions, colors, and sharpness. But the icon is the easy part compared to the rest of the game making process.

Crowdin is a very good translation service, you can add a list of languages you'd like and you add the text you'd like translated. It's free for 90 days I believe.
