More than a game, Autumn is a relaxing place for spiritual learning and growth with a soothing atmosphere.

In each game you play as a Spirit which depends on the natural world for its progress in life. As you help the world around you to thrive, you receive vital energy(Prana) in return. During the Autumn season, while the trees are shedding their leaves, orbs of Prana are released into the air, which you can absorb. Your own Prana can be utilized to help and change the world around you and to obtain spiritual teachings.

More than levels, puzzles or in-game progressions, Autumn’s focus is on the growth of the players. Not the one in the game, but the one on the chair.

There are no time-limits, no enemies to defeat, no goals to reach… except the ones you set for yourself. Relax, learn, grow… and enjoy Autumn.

I thought I'd just chime in to post some sort of status update.
Working on the menus was a really great thing to do. I got "unblocked" and ideas have been flowing like crazy in these past days.
Although not much code has been done, I have 7 mind maps and a doc detailing many many things, and I finally feel the game is taking a proper shape.

Its just the way I am, I wouldnt like to do much of coding and then get stuck again or finding out the idea was bad. Can still happen, but now I'm moving on with a lot more trust on this concept.

I hope that until the end of this week I'll rewrite the game description to something more updated, and that will give you guys a better idea of what this is going to be!

PS - updating status to 10%, just because this is definetely not 0 :D

I decided to set up a list of 3 obligatory To Dos, for the current and next week. Just to make sure I dont end up stagnating the game development again Smiley

this was a really productive weekend to move the game forward.
today I've implemented a better camera, which doesn't render useless things (out of the screen), z-index for the trees and gravity!

the video quality isn't the best, and the audio is barely noticeable(turn the volume up!!), but that's the best I could do for now Smiley





I promise that in the next 2/3 days I'll write a proper game description.. the one on the website and my first post is really outdated and nobody understands what the game is about  Embarrassed

So finally got some time to write a proper game design doc! Was a bit boring at times, but it is important. I feel some ideas are not much more clear!

With this, I edited and updated my first post to reflect the new game description (its short, I know).

also good news, 2 other people have offered help with the game! cool stuff :D

Been a tough week with lots of boring work and very little time to move forward with the game. Anyways, took 1hr this evening to code some parts of the new radial menu, and link the button to game actions. The video shows the progress and a first peak at the chest Smiley





Also, somehow Autumn is really calling a lot of sound enthusiasts, right now 3 different people have volunteered to help with the background music. Very cool Smiley

I've just closed this week's task list by finishing the 2 remaining goals

  • interface to acquire new text items for the chest
  • sign posts in the gameworld to give you tips on the gameplay

tl;dr: not making the mistake of trying to get a game that is far beyond my reach, so I'm making some different decisions and scaling down to make it more achievable in terms of time and skills.
