Aloha and Hello,

my name is Thomas and I just released my first indie game today. Well, I’m new to the indie game scene, usually working as a Graphic Designer and Artist, so I’m quite excited about the release.

My game is called “Chucky Mendoza and the Curse of the Pharaoh” and it’s a charming and lovely old school platformer inspired by 80s classics like Pitfall II, Pharaohs Curse, H.E.R.O. and Spelunker.

The setting of the game is inside a cursed Pyramid and the goal is to collect all treasures. Treasures are for sure protected by mummies, bugs, cobras, trip-mines, lava and a lot more of really bad guys. The game was completely developed by myself with the exception of the title music that was made by Curtithird. The concept of the game is to be as "retro as possible" when it comes to the game mechanics. So, there are no save points, tutorials, no achievement and you have only three lives.

Screens, animations and the game itself is available at my website:

So, I hope you like it. Thanks for your time and I look forward to hear what you think about it.

Thomas

Hello, awesome game! I really enjoyed playing through it, and it all felt really well executed, with the nice aesthetic and pleasing soundtrack.

I also recorded and uploaded some gameplay to YouTube a few days ago, and just wanted to check that you're okay with that. Here is the video in question --> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_oEvqDEs134

Well done with the game, and I look forward to seeing what you create in the future!

I also enjoyed it a lot, thank you! I could not drop it until I finished it.
It has been a pleasure for the eyes and great fun.
Very nice and polished! A clean idea and great execution. Congratulations!

I find your philosophy refreshing (no save points, no tutorials, no difficulty levels).
That works for me!

And the pixel art: terrific. And the music: fitting and moody.
The controls are very smooth and a pleasure to play with.

My only criticism: maybe a bit plain? I don't know what exactly, but I was kinda expecting *something* to happen, before the end, even without breaking the elegant simplicity of the concept: some different puzzle, some twist in the story, some revelation, a new character or monster, a new mode to unlock, a secret, a different prize, dunno, different endings, a escape-the-pyramid stage, some thing or another peaking...

This is really beautiful - I love the style. So much character in it.
