This weekend I started making a little game.

Sheep
A kind of farm sim but with sheep, paper sheep!

In Sheep you have to keep your flock of sheep well and healthy, while optionally making a bit of a profit on the side.

  • The grass dies as the sheep eat it, so you must keep it healthy
  • Your sheep age and eventually get weaker until they die.
  • You can make baby lambs, with your resident ram
  • You can sell sheep, if you need the money, younger and healthier sheep earn more
  • You can direct your sheepdog around, still not sure what why?  Possibly, to make healthy sheep avoid sick sheep, as well as to scare of foxes
  • Each one of these actions costs money.

I'm still not sure about, how to actually win.  Currently, it seems to be a survival type game, as it's hard to keep the sheep alive, water all the grass patches and have enough money to do this.  But any ideas are welcome.

All the graphics will be made out of paper.

Current progress:

This game will probably be just for Android, being a small game.

And here it is.

The sheeps in the centre have already become infected, (one has died)
I also created the gravestone from paper, as well as the less impressive health bars.

I'm currently implementing a level select, in the style of post it notes.
I'll probably change the font and include the player's best score in terms of most sheep, highest amount of money, most years, etc..

full blog post...

I'm still unsure of what else to add, maybe a fox?

I think this is turning into a puzzle type casual sim game.

I've decided to split the game into two modes:
1. a free play mode, where you can play as long as you want and try and keep your flock alive.
2. Challenge mode, which is points based.  points for every sheep that reaches old age, minus points if a a sheep dies early because it's ill or you've sold it.

If you lose all your sheep, the game ends.

Still, looking for suggestions, on what else the game needs.
You can play the game in it's current state here

Hmm, seems interesting, it seems to need a little something to inject a bit of action and this could really go somewhere - have you been following the mewgeneics development (or what information Team Meat do put out) - Might some ideas in there worth looking at. Overall, I don't think it's a baaaa-d idea...

I haven't really added to this, as I'm not sure of how to finish the game off.

any ideas are welcome.

I've also been doing my big project, which is a 1960's F1 2d racer, I currently only have my blog (here) for that and haven't created a devlog here.
