also Hammerwatch, it's kind of a boring grinding thing alone, but it gets a lot more fun in multiplayer, especially since all character classes are handicapped somehow, so you have to do proper teamwork, to get forward. arcade beat em ups, run n guns, shoot em ups, action games are definitely the best solution if you want to just have a short time for it, most of them can be finished in one and a half hour. if you really have a lot of time, Heroes of Might & Magic 3 is a good choice... that game is relatively easy to pick up, has a lot of content, etc. it's awesome.

Be aware: "If you can't enjoy it alone, you'll never enjoy it with someone else." is true for so many things... I find this is untrue for games close to 100% of the time though. The enjoyment of almost any game is enhanced by playing it multiplayer, even "pass the controller" style. You are right, I guess I was too focused on another context . I will edit my post...

Cards Against Humanity is mandatory.
Also, King of Fighters XI, Marvel Ultimate Alliance, just about any LEGO game, Rock Band, DDR. Seconding Terraria/Minecraft.

Fuck me for being gender-neutral and politically correct, I suppose. There's a lot of good suggestions in this thread, though many of them are local co-op only. I'll just have to take notes and bring up the list again the next time he comes for a visit, so we'll have something to do at that point.

nah Nillo, SO or partner is great. Do not be down on yourself about it. My SO and I play a lot of Space Dice ( http://spacedice.com/) and Scrabble together. Animal Crossing would also be fun if we had two 3DSs.

We play Awesomenauts (a lot), Starbound, Minecraft, and Octodad co-op (when we want to be frustrated and stressed ). Also, Pokemon cards. My SO is pretty awesome.

Spelunky HD's been lots of fun to play so far with a non-gamer SO, especially if you have a controller. It's quite cooperative, easy to get into, and provides plenty of laughs. And unlike many coop games, someone's lack of skill doesn't really hold you back. Even if they do something dumb like pick up the bomb you just set down and throw it at your face, it's hilarious, not rage-inducing.
A lot of games like Golden Axe are no fun if your friend or SO dies and takes all your lives or gets left behind. With Spelunky coop, you can rescue them the next level, and they even have the rare chance to rescue you every now and then.

My wife mostly watches me play games. She enjoyed watching games like assassin's creed, zelda, batman, tomb raider, resident evil etc. On the few instances we played together it was on the lego star wars games or rock band. She also enjoyed being player 2 on mario galaxy collecting stars while I over stress on the levels.
