View the Trailer on Kickstarter: http://kck.st/1BweUxN (we've meet our goal!)
We have the Greenlight on Steam!  Hand Thumbs Up Left http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=242150714

The Land of Eyas is an indie game for the PC (Windows, Mac OS, and Linux) and X-Box Live Arcade developed by Happy Square Productions (we hope to bring the game to the Nintendo DS as well). The titular hero, Eyas -a little boy wearing an oddly-styled cat outfit, is in a world where he is caught between two opposing gravities. In order to return to the place that he calls Home, he has to learn how to navigate this world using the opposing gravitational forces and the objects he interacts with along the way. On his journey he is guided by tree wisps, who direct him to find the one they call M.O.T.H.E.R. He also encounters a mysterious girl by the name of Abrahm. Is she a friend or is she a foe? Play the game to find out!

Inside The Land of Eyas you will find a puzzle-solving, platforming adventure that turns the laws of physics upside-down.  Instead of just having a world where only one set of rules applies, you must interact with objects that lie within several gravitational zones. This forces you to look at your surroundings from multiple perspectives and to devise complex strategies that get you from point A to point B.

Throughout this world are many strange and intriguing creatures. You will meet a tree spirit who is searching for his lost memories that have been locked away within these very peculiar seer stones. He will need you to seek these seer stones out and return them so that he can once again remember his past.

There are many other mechanics that you discover along the way, like hazards, laser beams, gravity switches, bosses, chase sequences, interactive creatures, and more!

Our small team includes:

Stephen Hoskins (Programer, and digital Musician extraordinaire)
Mac Kerman (Professional Animator @ titmouse)
Matthew Kiehl (Pen & Ink Artist)
Trung Nyguyen (Animations backgrounds + art content)
Kristen parker (Story design, and some art content)
Carl Norton (PR + Publicity)

Thank you for looking at our project, you can learn some more details here:

Please feel free to give us any kind of feedback!

Looks like we are getting a stronger response on Steam Greenlight than we are on Kickstarter. I wonder why...

Core Gaming Isn't Dead

First of all, very impressive trailer. The VA really sells the idea and immediately grabbed my attention. What kind of money did that cost? I need a good one myself!

Immediately after the trailer things kind of started to droop when I took a closer look.

The game itself merely looks... Alright. I'm a little put off by the tiles all looking extremely similar and samey, but they're not outright unattractive. A little more variety per set would do the game wonders.

The main character looks like it has the potential for being endearing, but all I see is platforming and gravity switching with a singular item-get. I do genuinely hope to see more about him that befits his silly grin and costume.

The trailer boasts an "enigmatic and enthralling storyline" but really only posits the notion with a disembodied voice supposedly changing the rules of gravity and some such, so I wasn't hooked so much as immediately suspicious of marketing speak. It's likely Trailer Farm hamming it up as necessary, but it seems like a weird direction that got me questioning too much about how much of what they said is true.

Overall, very visual and eye-catching, but an extended look at the actual game somewhat bores me. There's nothing to apologize for or write off, and the game looks like real quality work went into it, but it's a tough one to pull from memory. By the end of this wall of text I had to take another look to remember the name.

Zeusington, Thanks for the in-depth response (sorry I'm just seeing it now)! It is funny that you bring up the trailer, because our team disagreed over the direction we should take with it. For example - this is the trailer I made:

Sorry it doesn't have the same degree of polish.

I hope from my trailer you get a little more of a sense of the "enduring storyline" and maybe you understand the game a little better? So the story is like "The Wizard of Oz"  "Where the Wild things are", or "Alice in Wonderland" because you are looking to find your way home and you run into a variety of strange characters who help you on your way - One of them being a talking Tree who has forgotten everything he knew (except the story of the Eyas contained in my trailer). The title of the game is a little obscure. An "Eyas" is a British word for a baby falcon. That is all part of the symbolism and the game's story and intent (to help people open up their minds - spacial reasoning and spacial memory).

The gravity switching is not a result of a "single item get". Every stage has a line through the middle of it - if above that line you fall down, if below the line you fall up. (this is very clearly seen in my trailer about 1:12 ) Some objects can change this, sometimes there are "glyphs" that also change your fall direction when you touch them (The Glyphs don't appear until about 2/3 of the way through the game). Some objects have their own directional pull. This gravity reversal really makes you think about what you are doing, and often you need to be aware of "how many blocks high am I?" - sometimes we've had trouble making stages that are easy for new players to understand and complete because an "easy" stage can be a little mind-bending if you don't understand how to use that "line of gravitational change".

You are right about some of the stages looking drab, many of them don't have art fully integrated. Some people thought that our art is "all over the place" - this is in part because we have three different (soon to be 4) realms within the game 1)forest 2)city 3)"net". Each one of these areas has its own look and feel. This is a work in progress! This is why we are looking for support on Kickstarter: http://kck.st/OGdgZD (and feedback!)

Thanks for your thoughts! I'm glad you took the time.

We've received some good feedback on our game from a few gaming news sites that played our pre-alph. This one is probably has the most info!

I think Shen is hilarious.

Thanks for all the support so far. I'd love to hear your thoughts on the game!
