Who are we?
Ironbelly Studios is a provider of game development services catering to small, medium and some-times large game studios around the world. While we have primarily aimed to work smaller indie studios, offering some of the most competitive rates around, our capabilities have certainly grown over the past couple of years to handle larger and larger projects. We started out as a creative service provider, offering some of the best 2D, 3D, Animation, VFX, SFX and Level Design services in the indie scene but last year expanded our talent pool to include more than a couple wizards of code from Unreal and Unity communities, thus completing the service cycle! We are now proud to be a full service development house with the ability to handle every facet of game development, be it technical or creative for all games under the sun from Mobile to PC.
 
For a more detailed account of what we offer definitely head over to the website but in summary we are proud to offer the following services:

  • 2D: Concepting and illustration
  • 3D: Organic and Hardsurface Modeling
  • Rigging, Animation and Mocap: Skilled with Unreal Animtree's
  • UI design: Very experienced with Scaleform, Flash or Canvas
  • Level Design: Advanced knowledge and experience with Unreal and Unity. Services include full documentation and planning, terrain, lighting, shaders, materials, post processing, and everything else you'd need done in the editor
  • VFX work: Be it sprite based or real time particles using Cascade
  • Audio: Full soundtrack composition and sound effects
  • Programming: Advanced coding and Uscripting for Unity, UE4(Coding and Blueprinting), UDK and UE3[/B]
  • Writing: Creative writing services available for scripts, dialogue and game design

Since the last website update in 2012 we've worked on over 100 different projects, all bringing their own set of unique challenges and rewards. With each one we've honed our skills even further, learning new and better ways to do what we do. We want to bring this experience and raw talent to the table on your project to save you from having to learn the lessons we learned the hard way, skipping right to the finish line with a phenomenal success minus the headaches. We've gathered together a group of the most talented developers you can imagine and refined an incredibly efficient system of working together to ensure that while the quality of our work has risen exponentially over the years our prices are still competitive for indie budgets. When you combine this affordability, efficiency and quality the answer to the question 'Why Ironbelly?' becomes more and more apparent.



Won't I be able to save money by hiring individuals instead of some expensive studio?
The first thing I try to educate our clients on is the fact that while we do handle a fair amount of work and do have some of the best people in the business working with us we aren't a huge company with a ton of overhead.  There's no big fancy office with swanky furniture that drives up our costs, we don't a huge management staff to micromanage people and inflate budgets and we certainly don't have a CEO with a lavish lifestyle that demands big margins to survive(much to the disappointment of my wife and family I imagine Smiley ).  We are more of a very well organized collective of incredibly talented people who understand that together we can achieve so much more than any one of us ever could alone and we've spent the past decade(5 years under the Ironbelly name) developing the tools and workflows that allows us to manage more work with less people while still making sure that we produce the highest quality results without anything falling through the cracks.  

What it also means for the artists and programmers that work with us is that they no longer need to spend any time on things like client meetings, paperwork, negotiations or finding their next job.  For every 10 hour of work a freelancer does there is are usually 2-3 hours of work that happens behind the scenes just to stay in business.  Whether it's with us or with an individual freelancer these expenses are factored in to how much you are charged, the only difference with Ironbelly is that all of this behind the scenes work is handled for the artists so that they are free to focus entirely on creating the best quality products possible without having to worry about the mundane side of staying in business.  

The end result is that you are charged a comparable rate(sometimes even less!) and your work is done by well organized people who are focused entirely on creating what you need created without any of the distractions that typical freelancers deal with in their day to day.  It's a win-win situation for everyone involved as we're able to charge you a competitive rate that matches most freelancers and our people get paid fairly to do what they love without being bogged down with all that necessary stuff that they loathe about running a business.  


We are extremely proud of the fact that over the past 5 years we have developed the tools, infrastructure and workflow to allow some of the most talented people in the industry the freedom and flexibility to do what they love on their terms and make a decent living, all the while providing amazing services and assets to our clients at a fraction of the cost that it typically costs for comparable quality.

2014 Was an amazing year and I'm thrilled to post a quick reply here with some of the highlights (that we're allowed to show).  I've also updated the OP with a lot more info about us and how we work including a little bit at the end about our Special Discounts for the month of January to welcome in the new year!

We've had the pleasure of spending the past 6 months or so concepting, modeling and animating some awesome characters for an new MOBA that's in development based on an insanely popular Warcraft 3 Mod called Legion TD(http://www.legiontd.com/) and we are starting to get permission to show a select few characters off to the public so I wanted to throw a couple more here





Here is a full model and render sheet to give you an idea of what kind of material we provide when handling the entire character pipeline with the 2D being up top and the 3D underneath
