@DanFessler Ahhh yes, what fun that step is. It's when you find out what you can and can't get away with. I was doing this kind of thing for the last couple years for Red Ice. I wasn't using Spriter though, I was assembling the bits in Anime Studio and rigging them to bones. Here's a piece I kicked out for a project. The bits! The FIN!

Use posemaniacs or something, do about 15 thumbs before going into that much detail on any of them when doing anatomy studies.

Critique, plzthx. This is among my first "fine art" portraits without a reference, so I sort of made up all the light sources and reflective behaviors. Other than continued rendering, how can I make this more better?

First off, this is really great. First thing I noticed that was off was the nose is a bit less defined than the rest of the face. Thanks, means a lot. Yeah, I always have trouble with noses, since one errant stroke can make it look totally bizarre. @kinnas, did you paint that in grayscale first?

Blambo: Nothing to critique really other than keep going! And don't work on a white background, it's harder to judge values and colour that way. For those interested here's a larger version of that glowy dark bar - crop, size, rotate etc as necessary! Also notice my embarrassingly sloppy brushwork in great detail. Much like this next one it was just wingin' it for warmup. The bar one took about 90 minutes I guess, the last one was like 30-40? It's fast cause I'm not going for anything nor am I thinking about anything, whatever comes out is the topic of the image. If only work stuff was this fast to do : (
