My game almost always seems to freeze up when I attempt to go through the exit of a level. Sometimes I'll make it to the second or third level, but every time I've played it freezes, usually at a level exit.

I'm running Vista.

Linux, I'm guessing, is going to remain unsupported Cry

Congratz, your game has been noted.

I actually recommended the game to the site, so you likely have me to thank.

Wait, is Spelunky more popular than Rescue the Beagles now?

I think this means the apocalypse is nigh.

Interesting, I've almost never had trouble with since the 2nd time I encountered them. Are you climbing down the vine you're on before jumping to the next one? Or are enemies screwing you up?

Think I solved it, my method just wasn't as good as I thought it to be. Whoops.

Also: Wacky floating-in-midair block! There wasn't even a boulder or anything.

EDIT: One thing I've been meaning to mention. The sound level in the game is awfully loud. Whenever I play it I have to set the computer's sound level to almost mute, and upon exiting set it back again so I can hear any other application. Just a minor thing.

Also...

When shot by an arrow while climbing a ladder, you return to "on ladder" state after waking up.

Yesterday something happened and I don't know if it's a bug or not.

If you are falling slowly with the cape, should you get killed by spikes? I fell on some while using the cape, and heard the sound of being killed, but I wasn't dead.

I've been trying to figure out how many squares you have to fall in order to take damage.
As in the above image I aimed for the pit labeled fall which is seven squares from point 1.
If I fall from point one and land it the pit I take no damage.
HOWEVER
when I jump from point 2 to 3 and fall down to the pit I do take damage.
Which could mean the fall damage point is eight squares.
What do you guys think?
From what I've seen, when hanging onto a ledge and looking down as far as possible, if you fall and hit the lowest line of block before the edge of the screen, you take damage. If you hit any block before that, you're safe.

I found another bug, which is quite annoying - when you pickup girl in kissing store and put her down she will walk away, and shopkeeper will start shoot at you.

Also i created simple userbar:

Great game, overall. I've been playing it all saturday, and mostly loving it.  Smiley
Couple issues:
1:

The shopkeep was guarding the exit. I was trying to work my way around him, to blow him up and get the damsel through the door, but I ran out of time and the ghost appeared, so I dodged past him and into the door. I actually made it into the exit door, and was playing the "walk into backround" animation, when the shopkeep jumped up and shotgunned my disappearing form. I rocketed dead out of the door and got gameover. Total bullshit.  Cry
I've walked through the statue spikes in the jungle areas through the exit doors but the damn shopkeeper can pull me back from having BEAT the level to kill me. Please make the PC totally invulnerable while playing the leaving animation. Pretty please.  Beg
2: Please add "no music" to the pre-launch options (where you pick fullscreen and can configure controls etc). I know you can mute the music with M, but only because of this thread. The music's nice, but wears after a while.
3. I ran into a bug with a boulder.

It rolled for about 3 seconds then came to a sudden complete stop at that point. No idea why. It broke about 4-5 tiles before freezing.
4. The pathing for the jungle stages frequently ends up with dead ends that are impossible to get around without bombs, especially when the spike statues are involved.

I know you want the game to get harder as it goes along but the frogs and venus spelunker traps and permadeath alone do that just fine. It's an issue of fairness, and I'd personally prefer that the game always has a path from start to finish that you can follow without specifically using up a bomb or rope, though it may be difficult. In general the statues and trees seem to be completely ignored for when the game checks a level to see if it's got a completable path. Overall the level generation program is very, very impressive with this game, and for the starting areas it makes it feel that every level is hand-made and deliberately laid out and paced, which makes these moments seem just that much worse in comparison.
Edit: The top scores thing is a bit off. This is right after the game over in the first pic:

The money score is off by a couple thousand.

Edit 2:

I jumped on this giant spider from above and passed right through it and its web without stopping or hitting it and dropped to the floor below (I took a point of damage from the fall).

The falling damage seems a bit bugged. Once I got damage after falling one square.

Also, is it possible to climb spike totems from the side? I did it a couple of times in previous builds, but I couldn't make it alive even once in the last one. If you can't climb them , then a lot of times you will need bombs or ropes to pass the level.

I've done it v98 with a quick dash up and over. But it's less risky using a rope to jump. Is the timing different from previous builds?
