Errors - Carrying a flare while walking on the floor over a shop results in some fluctuation of tint. - I've seen the carnivorous plants float upwards. At first it looked like it was crawling up the wall, since it was conscious. Then I saw another, unconscious, float up through thin air and off the top of the screen. Requests! - Could, while stunned, our intrepid adventurer not attract monsters? If he gets tossed off a cliff, then trampled to death by a frog, it brings out an 'ehh' kind of feeling. - Seconding a (limited) addendum to healing! Maybe after levels 2/6 or in levels 3/7 you'd be guaranteed to encounter a telephone. It'd cost something, but give you one heart. If there are shops underground, there can be telephones, right? - In lieu of a shortcut man between areas 3 and 4, I'd like to submit that the main character hacks out a passage to the main menu. It would take something like 30 hacks, and each time he passed by he'd do # hacks equal to his health. - Every hundred player deaths, some art gets added to the main menu, like a canopy/fireplace/hammock. If the main character's going to die so many times, he'd better make himself comfortable, right? I gotta say, this game is awesome. If only I could get past level 13! ETA: Requests: - The shortcut to area 3 should totally have a +2 ropes & bombs room. - If there's an 'Easy Mode' option in the options startup screen, how about giving suboptions for 'Deactivate ghost' and '+4 bombs & ropes'? (Personally I like the ghost, but if some people are targeting their anger at it, an opt-out system works. But it should totally disqualify your score from unlockables.)

I've died so many times in this game. The final level is awesome though.

Why doesn't the third area have a golden statue? The whole third area seems a bit bland and uninteresting (opposed to areas 1,2 & 4). Also, yetis & cultists can be really cheap when they throw you and catch you afterwards.
BTW, what does the item in the locked treasure chest (in area 1) do? The eye thingy...

Picked up the idol by accident, then frantically swapped it back for my flare (in a dark level) and ran for cover. The boulder ran across the floor, fell down a flight of stairs, and it was suspended over the exit. I jumped down cautiously. And then I got shot. Why doesn't the third area have a golden statue? I don't think you'd want to be screwing around in an area where a floor is not guaranteed... Also, yetis & cultists can be really cheap when they throw you and catch you afterwards. Think of it more as an instant death thing. Then you're lucky to even escape alive. Much more optimistic.

Ugh... I can't resist it any longer... Must... play... Spelunky... M0AR!!!!11two!!1 (But, really, a mode without a ghost (even if it excludes you from the high-scores, or has a different high-score table (preferred, since playing the game as a loot-gathering game is fun, too (especially since the game acts like it's meant to be played that way (mostly because there's almost no reward for going deeper, and there's freaking tons of treasure on each level, so really the ghost is the only motivator (sweet, sextuple nested parentheses))))) or something), and a fricking "Easy" or "Fair" mode are necessary to actually allow non-uber-leet or non-uber-obsessive players to actually see what you've put into the game.) That's the most confusing post I've ever written, anywhere. (And it was deliberate. )

real art looks like the mona lisa or a halo poster and is about being old or having your wife die and sometimes the level goes in reverse

Wow, this is really hard... and really addicting! I think my highest level was around 3, but I'm also always trying to get everything there is, instead of looking for the quickest way to the exit. Strangely enough I got a weird bug when using a controller. I have this cheap Logitech Precicion controller, which when used won't let me climb down ladders or ropes and won't let me stop climbing up except if I jump to the side. This makes the game quite an additional challenge. I would also really be interessted how he levels are generated, so they are playable each time. Is there some kind of ruleset for each object on the possibilities of its placement? [EDIT]Yeah, made it to the 4th area! even shopped at Guert's store! BTW, Maybe it would be good to make sure the stone that comes from stealing the idol never stops in front of the exit. I felt a bit desperate standing at the closed exit with Lady and the idol...[/EDIT]

I just came across a chest with a bomb in it(first in a while), and I have to say it was really clever to put in a special noise when you open a boobytraped chest. It keeps the danger in there and changes the players behavior from constantly jumping away from chests as soon as they open them to carefully listening for any funny noises. Now on to my rant: Does nobody else agree with me about the shopkeeper? Starting with level 5 the game focuses more and more on item use rather than just Indy's jump and wip. And its because of this I'm really frustrated at how random the shops are. Repeating items you cant even carry more than one of or items you already have? How does lowering the chance of the shops actually carrying something I need make the game more challenging? I'm tired of standing hopeless at the bottom of a ice level because I got unlucky looking for the exist without a compass, climbing gloves or jet pack. And Kissing booths have only made things worse. Frankly I cant think of a single time I've been happy to see a kissing booth before level 5. After all the first 4 levels are a time of obsessive gold and item collecting when the dangers are relatively low. And often when I do see one I save my money, hoping that on the next level I'll get lucky and find a shopkeeper carrying what I actually need. And in addition the prices for items seem off to me. Both the mitts cost 15000 but I don't see why anyone would value the ability to throw items really fast and far as much as being able to climb any surface like spiderman. And then items like the webcannon may be more useful than a pistol in some ways, but the annoyance of having to put down the thing constantly to use my wip to finish off webbed enemy's or smash pots ruins all the fun out of it. I sill want to see the ability to toggle between 2 hands, One carrying the wip and the other whatever usable carry over item you desire with only large heavy items such as the girl and idol being unpocketable. Please Derek, please?

I endorse the two ideas presented in the quoted text.

Yeah, it's awesome when the first chest you open in the tutorial level the first time you play is a bomb chest. (TRUE STORY)

I've been playing this a lot, I have like 60 deaths and got to level 9, where something killed me in less than 5 seconds. BTW, SPOILERI've come with just a few things might be goos to change. Throwed items doing damage to player. Sometimes I've had a rock or arrow, and throwed it to grab something else and it bounces back. I find this annoying. I know Ican put them in the floor pressing down+x, but Useless shops. I've seen a lot of shops that have the same item three time. What am I suppossed to do with three spectacles? Having one item at a time. Changing between two items would be nice. Specially in levels with flares.

Awesome game, I'm loving it. Please nix the ghost though. I play the game in a similar vein to nethack, very "go slow and really think about every action", and the ghost really handicaps you from playing in that style.
I had the same problem when I tried to play Mother 3 in a similar vein to Halo 3.
