He does that on planks. It makes sense because items pass through them too, meaning they don't take up an entire hypothetical depth unit.

I'm getting the bug wherein I seem to constantly be holding "up" on my gamepad. I've used google to try find a fix or workaround or whatever, but the only thing I can find is people mentioning that they have the problem who are immediately overlooked. Can anybody help me out?
I'll look into it for the next update. What kind of gamepad do you have (or anyone else who has that problem)?

I'll look into [the joypad bug] for the next update. What kind of gamepad do you have (or anyone else who has that problem)?
Great news, good luck with it! I have a famicom style pad, and an official USB Sega Saturn pad. Both are digital only, no analogue stick.

I've got Spelunky running under WINE, albeit in a kind of half-assed manner.
I'm using Ubuntu 8.04 (Hardy Heron), and Wine 1.1.7, the standard binary for this version of ubuntu. in winecfg, I've got all of the options under Graphics => Window Settings checked. All other settings are at default.
The config window doesn't render, and Wine fails to display the game if it's set to play at x2 or x3.
x1 is tiny, but I've been using the magnifier in Compiz to zoom in, and make the game visible. Sound works fine.
Since the config menu doesn't render, I've been editing the settings.cfg file to experiment. The important part is to set the last item from "3" to "1" in order to get it to run at x1.
I'm a novice when it comes to Wine, or really anything under the hood here, so I probably can't help anyone beyond listing what I did. But I just wanted to get word out that it's possible! Now to see if I can survive to level 6!
Love this game.

I have two gamepads (acting as if up is always pressed) : Logitech Precision Gamepad (D-pad + 10 buttons) Thrustmaster Firestorm Digital 3 (D-pad + 8 buttons). edit/note : just don't name your child Thrustmaster Firestorm.

I experienced the gamepad bug while using a Playstation controller. Don't have any other pads to test. Also, if I have a child I might name him Thrustmaster Firestorm now.

Those of you that are having that problem with your gamepad, if you have a chance, could you try this debug version and read me some values? http://www.derekyu.com/games/spelunky_joytest1.exeJust download that into your Spelunky folder and run it - above the character there should be 3 values, separated by colons ":". If you could relay the values to me at each of the 8 directions and also when you're not pressing any direction, I think I could figure out how to fix the problem. Most likely only the second value will change... Thanks!

That's an impressive feat, actually, considering that the game is made with Game Maker.

Great, thanks, dock! That's better than I was guessing. This should fix it? http://www.derekyu.com/games/spelunky_joytest2.exeGive it a whirl and lemme know if it does. :3 Navineous: Probably not, since there's a lot of stuff to cover, and I've got some other things to do. But soon!
