My solution would be to make the dice unable to be picked up after you rolled them in a game until another game starts. It'd make the dice game non-lethal (as it was before) and also eliminate cheating. Then again, I don't know Gamemaker or the work involved in such an endeavor. I guess it'd make the game 'easier', but I also think it'd eliminate a lot of accidental triggering of shopkeeper rages. I dunno, it just seems excessive as is. 

Also, with the newest version it seems to be easier to take damage from falling. I've fallen very short distances, ones that I was sure wouldn't hurt me, and fallen flat on my face and lost health. It seems unpredictable, but maybe I'm just missing something.

Oh, and since I'm posting things, thanks to Derek for making such an awesome game. Smiley

A question for the Derek about the level editor:

Is it possible to "embed" objects in stone so that the stone must be destroyed to obtain the item, just like ingame?  (Hidden mattock, jewels, etc)

Is the gold infused stone a selectable object?  Or is the gold randomly placed in stone that is already placed in the level?  Same with the hidden jewels...randomly spawned?

On this front, I can say that those jewels and bits of gold are definitely random.  Just play the tutorial a couple of times, or, well, create any level of your own and pop into it, then you'll see.

But that does make me wonder . . . is the new random-object-in-stone code something that means we will randomly find a jet pack in the tutorial level?  Or in our custom levels?  That could completely ruin someone's plans.

Next: holy cow, I haven't figured out the new function of the bow, but I sure have found the new item!

. . . However, I must report a glitch with the item.  I was stomping on a yeti, just having a good time and figuring things out, and then unfortunately the yeti tossed and killed me.  It kept tossing me after my death, and the new item's function kept triggering!  And I was dead!

In addition, my body vanished (presumably I had been pulverized) and it kept tossing my invisible-body around for a while!

As for the new function, I will say this: I haven't found any buttons that do it.

Bug report:

On a test level, I fired a fully-drawn arrow at a line of yetis. The first one flew back normally, hit the second--LAAAAAAAAAAAAAAG, then I got about two frames in, then the game utterly froze. No errors, just frozen.

Hm, I don't really know how to post this feedback without spoiling the bow's new feature, so please refrain from reading unless you've already figured it out.

I find that although bomb arrows are really epic, it goes just about as far as a bomb would if you were to throw it, and there aren't many situations in which you would have such an open stretch of land to shoot across. I still would love it if the bow could be aimed up (diagonally). It'd also make the bow more worth it as it'd be the only ranged weapon (not thrown item) that could be aimed up.

Just my 2 cents.

It would be nice if someone would update the Spelunky wiki so I don't have to beg people here to tell me what to do with the bow because it's driving me insane.

Yay i finally beat it. about 520 runs.
Didnt get any gold trophies tho :[ just a silver and bronze.

Also i got this:



I was about to throw a bomb up and over to the mummy.
I got this once before, again trying to fight a mummy.

Bug?The new bow feature doesn't expend the resources one might expect it to.

Also, various combinations of jumping, whipping, and turning around create some odd animation states (whip extended behind Indie).

Hey Derek,

I was playing last night and the game froze on me about 10 seconds after I got the new item (and I can't remember its name and I didn't figure out what to do with it). I was in the final world, probably about level 14 or so, and ... not doing anything special. Jumping or something. I had a few items, and the gun.

*shrug*

Beyond that, I don't know what to say. This is not very helpful, I know.

hey, i'm pretty new to all this, absolutely love the game so far, and would be willing to spend thief's money on it. still haven't made it through the second area yet.
on more of a design point, i like what's happened in the new update with the flares, although considering they can be extinguished in water, and considering you have no choice as to where they're initially ignited, I've found myself in situations where i can't get a flare past a puddle short of bombing things. don't know if anyone else has mentioned this yet. also, as a relatively new player, making things cheaper HAS made it easier to access the better items, however i really did enjoy the fact that i had to spend an arm and a leg to get those things, or just get really lucky with a crate. it really doubled the novelty and extrinsic value of items (purely on the merit that i'd rarely have the opportunity to use them). i've noticed now that i'm flinging bombs around just to get at ingots once i know i can buy some more explosives around the corner... i don't know how valid these observations are, or if this just comes across as whining.

i'm dead keen on this game though, blew my mind
