The only thing thats annoying me at the moment is the damn speed of the spear traps  Beg
but thats probably just cause I suck

I know sometimes I'll be next to a spear trap and try to jump away quickly but I guess the very edge of the spelunker gets hit because I take a huge amount of damage usually leaving me at 1HP. I've had it happen several times so I know I'm not crazy.

I just thought of something: a more deep scores/awards screen. With more than just enemies kills, damsels rescued and booty scores. Some extra little badges would be cool like "Killed 100 shopkeepers". Something like achievements.  Like "A life earned is a life spent" for killing a damsel you were carrying to protect yourself from a trap. And more easter eggs/hidden awards.

Maybe permanent upgrades? Maybe that's going too far. But more rewarding awards would be fun.

But you don't have stickybombs in that screenshot, the bomb icon on the HUD is normal  Epileptic
Hey, you're right. Huh.

Guess I'm just that awesome, then!  :handjoystick:Cool

I've seen a tiny itty bitty graphical glitch. When you are carrying a spear/arrow from a bow or trap, it's sprite doesn't flip when looking left.  Blink

Yeah, one of my issues is that now that I've beaten the game twice, I don't really feel motivated to play it again. (Even though I haven't found this... what was it, City of Gold?) I'd love to but I just can't muster the motivation to do so.

Yea, I know how you feel, I had a similar feeling once I got all the gold trophies and such. But you should definitely go for a CoG run, it's worth it.
Don't get me wrong this is a wonderful game, one of my favorites. And it's a great game to play every now and then or bring on the road with a flash drive, but more content probably wouldn't hurt.

Oh hell yes. This is an amazing game. To quote my blog entry where I did a quick review:

Quote from: Shade's Blog
Graphics: Excellent.
Very reminiscent of old SNES games, and fits the feel and gameplay of a roguelike really well. Characterization is very clear, and the scenery in general is eye-pleasing but not too cluttered.

Music: Perfect.
Awesome chiptunes. Yay!

Sound: Pretty good.
The sounds work, and feel sort of Atari-ish. Which doesn't fit perfectly with the graphics but works in its own right.

Gameplay: Excellent.
It's a platformer-roguelike. I've died over 300 times and kept playing until I beat it. Great replayability while trying to beat it. Nice shop system too, which lets you buy things as well as try to steal them, which is impossible when you're beginning but as your skill increases becomes easier. The enemies are nicely varied but also consistant, much like the levels. Except I don't know why level three is an icy place with aliens and yetis.

Only issue is that now that I've beaten it, I don't really want to play it again. If you're into highscores though, you'd probably find this not a problem and still very enjoyable.

Overall: Amazing
This is the most fun I've had with a platformer or a roguelike since I played Prince of Persia or Nethack. It's a definite download. Yu did a great job Derek.

Please make bullets trigger arrow traps. They're the same size as gems.

Does Indie explode in a fountain of blood if he is stunned (or dead) on the altar? Kali should happily accept Indie as a sacrifice if she's not pleased with him.

Why do skeletons cover spikes with blood when they land on them? There is very little blood in them, even less is released when they shatter.

Please use the edit key.

No, Indy cannot trigger altars. That'd be a mean surprise for someone who didn't expect it. Skeletons spit out blood because it's a minor bug. Bullets don't--where would a gun be useful against an arrow trap? I'm honestly puzzled.

I do often wish that bullets would trigger arrow traps. The shotgun has a vertical spread to it, so you can stand above and a few tiles behind an arrow trap and cause a bullet to pass in front of it from above.

Basically, though, I just think the game would be a little more consistent if bullets triggered motion traps. That's one of the cool things about Spelunky: things you think would work probably do. Or they fail in a way that totally makes sense when you think about it. The bullets thing just seems a little arbitrary.

Any fix for the black bars glitch? It's rather annoying.

If you stood at the same height as the trap far away from it and there were no obstacles directly in between, you could shoot the trap to trigger it.

I would expect that. Why would evil goddess have mercy on you if you didn't please her or, even worse, destroyed her altar? I think that such monster/player symmetry would fit Kali's character.

@Symbiotic: Are you using a GeForce card with the latest drivers? Because that glitch showed up after I upgraded my drivers, and I had to downgrade to get games working again.

That would make sense, I update the drivers every now and then.

I'd rather not downgrade because I have no problems with them other than just that.
