http://www.viddler.com/explore/Hempuli/videos/3/ the old-good "item stuck in wall" -bug in world 1.

I can't reproduce this one and I've never seen it happen before.  How does it work - you throw an item at the corner?

Just died to a bug on another city of gold run.

Shoot, sorry about that!  Can you describe in more detail how it happened?  Did you grab onto the block first, was it just regular walls around it, etc.

I managed to reproduce it a few times.
I made a level with a lot good corners to get a stone or an arrow stuck.
Then I just kept throwing them.
Sometimes they got stuck.

You need to throw it upwards when you're at a right position.

Okay, I was holding the scepter and had a jetpack, climbing gloves, and nothing else that would effect movement. I flew up and to the right towards the wall, which was flat and made of regular blocks except one which was one of the gray pushable kind. I made contact with the wall dead on with the pushable block (which had nothing behind it). The block shifted just a tiny bit to the right and it looked like I just exploded on the ceiling of the pixel or two wide corridor pushing it left behind.

It happened very quickly, but almost seemed like I grabbed onto the side of the pushable block even though I shouldn't have been able to. I'll see if I can reproduce it.

^^^^^^^^

I've had that as well. I've jumped running into the setup above, pushing the block slightly and instagibbing inside the ground tile above it.

Also this happened recently:

Code:
@
#S
##

I was standing at @, holding the big chest containing the you know what. The S was a snake. I was standing right at the edge, and tried to drop the chest on the snake, when the bug happened... spelunky man did the ledge flip down (even though I wasn't pressing right) and the chest, snake and spelunky man got into this twitchy thing stuck together. It lasted for a second or so, then the snake died, I took damage and the chest dropped down as you'd expect.

I just encountered an error inside the city of gold.

Code:
ERROR in
action number 2
of End Step Event
for object oBomb:

Error in code at line 3:
       x = enemyID.x-stickyXDiff;

at position 18: Unknown variable x

Followed immediately by this:

Code:
of End Step Event
for object oBomb:

Error in code at line 3:
       x = enemyID.x-stickyXDiff;

at position 18: Unknown variable x

___________________________________________
ERROR in
action number 2
of End Step Event
for object oBomb:

Error in code at line 3:
       x = enemyID.x-stickyXDiff;

at position 18: Unknown variable x

It spammed this constantly. I had the city of gold almost completely demolished and I had already picked up almost all of the gold. I had no lit bombs anywhere when these errors showed up, but I did drop an unlit bomb from standing too close to an edge that I hadn't picked back up yet. I also had sticky bombs and was carrying a cultist's corpse.

Hope this helps.

Yeah, that's an issue with sticky bombs that I'm still trying to sort out.  It has to do with an enemy dying when a sticky bomb is stuck to it and the sticky bomb somehow not being told that the enemy is dead.

Thanks for pointing it out!

I might suggest that these two problems are the same thing:

Getting stuck in a corner.  It's just that when the player gets put inside solid matter, either by the teleport item or through this corner bug, the result is dooooooom.

I should just note that I was playing my daily death in Spelunky and I threw a pot at a wall. A snake came out. Except it climbed the wall until it hit a ceiling, and then died in the normal shower of blood. I kinda think this is a glitch, even though it was kinda funny to watch the snake climb the wall to it's death, but yea. Now that I think about it, I think I pushed a block on top of a snake and the snake just moved up and out of the block instead of dying like I thought it would. Am I missing something? ;/

Yeah, I fixed that one. Smiley

It happened with mantraps sometimes, too - hopefully I got all the possible cases.

I think indeed that it happens the most when you throw an item upwards from a certain position to a wall. I don't know how your collision system works, but that sounds like a situation where this sort of bug might happen. However, I've also been able to throw rocks into a wall also by running, jumping + throwing, though this happens very rarely. Also, I've seen at least 3 instances where a pickupable item (shotgun, crate and chest) was stuck inside a wall because of an explosion sending them flying with a great speed.

Great to see more response from you! Smiley

Sweet, I think I fixed the sticky bomb crash... and the solution was a lot easier than my original implementation, so that's good!  And now you can stick fifty million bombs to a single enemy/damsel's head. Hand Thumbs Up Left

Hempuli, I managed to create a custom level where I can get a rock stuck in a corner kinda regularly.  It's hard to test for every possible case, though...

May I suggest an indicator for the teleporter that shows the possible places for you to end up?

I once got the item-in-corner bug. I was on a ladder and I threw a box of flares (so I could open another box) and the flares were stuck in the corner.  SMB Mario I got through the level without them though.

I fixed the stuck-in-wall issue with rocks... probably won't test it with each item, though!
