Of course. Testing is closed per say, I just would like to keep it to people who ask.

Oh, this looks fantastic. I would also love to help playtest this, if you'll take another playtester. I playtested Snailiad (and found a number of bugs, including a really bad one) if that helps.

With all these replies, i'll think i'll just put a link on the playtesting subforum.
Alpha 2 will be done later today or mid-day tomorrow, i'll post that.

No, please. Harsh criticism is by far the best way to help improve the game, as long as you're not being rude.
Thanks for the email, alpha 2 will be a public release, and i'm glad to fix a few major issues before that.

Sorry about the lack of updates, bug fixing and content changing for the public release have been eating up the time I usually spend working on new stuff. Here are some GIFs as an apology for my absence.

Lava and little sparks that come out of it

Laggy recording of me getting surrounded in the mushroom forest

How ironic is it that the only room with two weapons in it is also the only room where the roof caved in?

Here's the game map so far, ~25% zoom, before view scaling.

Anyway we could get on of these at a higher resolution. I love looking at game maps!

Apology accepted (even though I just discovered this game today).
I really enjoy the art style of this game btw.

All the art is done in game makers built-in image editor.

This is looking good. Not a big fan of the color palette but it has a ton of atmosphere

Progress!

Anyway we could get on of these at a higher resolution. I love looking at game maps!

For you sir, 1336x768

Things I've finished:

Level design is done!
First boss has been designed.
More enemies have been designed.
Balancing.
Bug fixing.

Things yet to do:

Tile placement (Literally the most boring part of making this game).
First boss implementation.
Two other bosses need to be designed and implemented.
More enemies need to be been designed and implemented.
More balancing.
More bug fixing.
Populate the game world.

I'm sorry to say, but I don't think there will be any more alpha updates.
The game is getting close(ish) to beta, and I would like to be able to sell this when it's done.

This is not as fun as it use to be.  Tired
Back to work then...

This is looking good. Not a big fan of the color palette

I made the palette a while back, before I learned about color theory, it does have some issues.

but it has a ton of atmosphere

Thanks!

Only thing that really bothered me while playing the demo was the jerky camera when switching from left to right.  I get what you're trying to do but it's too fast.  This is a good reference for juicy camera movement:

I think i'll slow down the left/right movement, but re-programming the whole logic is a bit too much.

Create a camera object that follows the player like in the example I gave you before. Also the jump is still... not good.
