I thought TIGConf wasn't that bad; there are much worse options, and I can't seem to think of a better one.

Oh, and on a different note, why is the official annual Jam in September, when anyone who's a student is basically unable to go?  I mean, there are 4 months of the year where I (and any other student people here) could use it as an excuse to fly to Phoenix for a mini-holiday.  Instead, it has to join the list of "cool but I'm at school" events, like GDC and MIGS/GAMMA.  Sad

Duuuude, check actual flight costs ... flights are pretty cheap these days.

Central Europe to US west coast and back will still cost you around €600 at the very least, often much more. Not what I call cheap.

Well, if it's this year I couldn't make it anyway, but yeah there are other students.  And I really do love the idea of a TIGConf and would probably try and go next year.  Smiley

I really think the Jam should be moved back too, because I fail to see why September is a better month than any of the 4 preceding it (unless there's some significant reason why it's in September that I'm not aware of).

I don't know what the Flashbang guys think, but maybe TIGConf is just TIGJam + sessions?

I really like the idea of that, and if it was in the summer you'd complete a nice "big indie event every few months" thing between MIGS/GAMMA in November, GDC in March, and the Jam/Conf in the summer.  Grin

Ideally, most people (...fine, North Americans  Sad) would be able to go to at least one of those (MIGS being on the East Coast deals with the "nothing on the East Coast" problem in a way too).

Make it any date after August and I'll probably be in. (CA is a bit far but I'll try to make the effort. I can even talk/lecture/whatever about stuff, especially crowd AI in games, since that is my senior project and I have a 3D crowd engine built)

As soon as things settle with Hacker Dojo and we settle on a date, I'll set up registration.

So are we leaning towards August?

If it's in California, I'll try and make it. Not too expensive to fly from Seattle.
