-A winner will be chosen by the host.
-The winner will host the next challenge.
Description: As surprising as it may be, you find yourself in a large ballroom, unknowingly thrown into the dancing large mass of nicely dressed…. Well, are they people, ghosts, other-worldly creatures? You decide!
The goal of this challenge is to create a waltz (generally 3/4 but can be 6/8 if you wish). Can be creepy, happy, sad, you name it. It can also be made with any instrumentation you wish… You want to make a dubstep/chiptune/(insert any other sort of instrumentation you please)? Have at it!
Rules:-Should have a general formal dance feel
-Must have a 3/4 or 6/8 time signature
Other than that have a ball!
Judging: I will choose 3 finalists and create a poll to elect a winner
You will be judged on:
Creativity: Is the piece memorable? Are there parts that stick out to the listener making them want to listen/dance to?
Creativity is a biggie in my book, step out of your comfort zone be it instrumentation, melody, harmony, etc. Try to come up with something new! Production: Is the piece sequenced/recorded/mixed well?
Overall theme: Does the piece fit the theme of a waltz?
Deadline: Whenever it isn’t
August 22, 2014 anywhere in the world
Examples:
Kingdom Hearts II - Waltz of the Damned:
Saint-Saëns - Danse Macabre:
Super Mario Bros – Underwater:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TBx-8jqiGfAAs stated above, critique will be had both from me and amongst yourselves. As a newer composer I find critique hard to come by(might be a tad shy), but very helpful when I get it! Be a pal and offer some constructive criticism to other posts if you have the time, thanks!
