Found a rather nice series of photos documenting various controllers throughout gaming history, thought it worth a share...

Interesting.

Home computers obviously didn't happen, neither did shaved arms Smiley

If you like the history of game controllers, the evolution of video game controllers family tree is fun to look at

OK, just now got around checking the link in the first post. Where's the Channel F stick? =/ Seriously, ignoring the controller of the first proper console ever is kind of stupid, especially when it wasn't a keypad =P It was also a 3D stick, which even today isn't exactly common (it had forward, backward, left, right, up, down - also it had rotate left and right).

Looking through all the controller pictures makes me appreciate Nintendo more and what they attempted with the Wii controller. Only a couple of the controllers felt any different.

Nice! I'm also watching the Steam controller "evolution" with mild amusement. It's so hard to reinvent this stuff yet stay comfortable (both ergonomically as well as mentally). We all like change so much.  Smiley
I was hoping to enter or at least closely watch the alt+ctrl game jam, but alas as usual didn't find the time. http://www.altctrlgamejam.com

It looks cool but it's honestly kind of confusing, it tries to mesh accessories, portables and console controllers together in a collection of trees.

Some of the connections seem tenous and it misses clearer connections such as the gun controllers to the motion controllers in gun shells.
