Tiled and moving a selection

Tiled seems pretty great but there's a glaring omission.

It seems you cannot highlight a section of a map and easily drag it to a new location? What madness is this? Do you really have to copy/cut/paste each layer of said selection to a new area in a map? This turns a 5 second operation into something painful that kills any chance of rapid iteration.

Is there a trick or is this just how it is? It's hard to see how Tiled is really usable as an editor without this feature.

Are there any comparable tile editors to Tiled with a decent select/move operation? (been looking).
