Hey TIG people!

I'm a web developer by trade (for about 8 years now) but I'm changing gears and going full on game dev soon. I spend as many evenings as I can practicing pixel art and learning in Unity.

I've been working on a local multiplayer game in Unity and just figured I'd start a thread to show my art in. This is the first piece of pixel art I've created. It's simple but any basic feed back would be awesome!

Thanks!  Gentleman

You should probably post your pixel art in original scale too. At that scale it's very hard to read. 200% is good enough if you want to display at a larger size.

About the sprite itself, on it's own, without knowing anything about the context, I'm not really sure exactly what I'm looking at.

Thanks for the response kruxus, here's a version at it's original size 24x24. It's for a top down space brawler.

It's kind of nondescript and formless, and so it's hard to really critique. Only advice I could give is to go a little harder on the shadow, at original scale it's hard to see the shadow at all.

Thanks Lee, I'll work on having it read better and not be so subtle with the shadows.

Just by itself it's fine. People sometimes have problems with consistency, so draw 10 other sprites for the game, and the background art etc., and then we can critique better - as kruxus already noted.

Thanks Eigenbom - I'll create a whole set and then post them Smiley

I thought it was a cowboy hat. What exactly is a space brawler? Is it like a SHMUP? Then it needs more space-ship features. Smiley

Thanks for the feedback. I'm working on adding some more space-ship defining features Smiley

It's a 4 player player versus player asteroids clone.
