Worked on me. Presumably it only affects people who played those games as a kid?

The real sea-change that was brought about by the rise of video-games was not the emergence of "gamers." It was the introduction of games as a single-player experience. There have always been games, in any number of different forms. But before video games, the overwhelming majority of those games were designed to be played with more than one person. The introduction of computers made it considerably more convenient for an individual to enjoy a game by themselves.

This is still one of the biggest differences between electronic games and all other forms of gaming. And it is also the primary factor behind social stigmas associated with video games. The majority of the population will always be extroverts, and they will always view isolated activities as aberrant. That's just an aspect of human nature, and it won't be going away any time soon.

Cuteness and happiness is not manly enough for video games, it's cringe worthy

I'm making fun of "unbearable cuteness" (you didn't start this) but damn your dynamic avatar ruin the jokes.

edit:
I know the feeling, but I'm increasingly aware that's wrong and an effect of being raised in a culture that value sociopathic attitudes.

i think it's important to make a distinction between "cute" and "cutesy;" cutesy, as i used it, implies a sort of inauthenticity or disingenuousness. "cute," on the other hand, is something that we could all use more of.

my issue isn't that the video is cute, it's that it doesn't ring true; it feels manufacturedly cute, robbing it of any genuine emotion
