Hey TIG! My partner Mark and I have been developing our first indie game, Fit Fred, for about 5 months now. We're a little over halfway through, and wanted to get some feedback on how the game is looking so far. Look for a playable demo soon! Here's our elevator pitch:Fit Fred is a narrative based arcade-adventure game about normal guy (Fred) just trying to get in shape. As minigame challenges require Fred to reach higher and higher plateaus of fitness, will he taste the glorious Salad of Success, or sample the high calorie Tart of Failure? The quest for ultimate buffness commences Fall 2014. The game is pretty narrative based (bit of a love story), and we try to keep the art direction at a very high standard. Check back for new updates on subsequent pages! Tell us what you think, we love feedback! Start Screen Fred's Transitions (Fat to Buff) Fred's Bedroom Fred Early Concepts Early Darla Design Roughs

So is this about getting fit, or do you get fat over time?

Thanks! Yeah, we're trying to keep the color palettes a bit monochromatic.

Yep. Fred is trying to become fit. So as you progress through several mini-games, Fred essentially "evolves" into one of the few body types: Fat, chubby, slim/fit, & buff. (concept art)

I love the art style so much. What kinds of dietary "theories" are you using for healthy/unhealthy food? This is kind of a weird question to ask on a games forum, but since your game is _about_ food and getting in shape it seems relevant, especially now that misconception about fat and carbohydrates are coming into the public attention even more.

I envision a game like Audiosurf where you're counting macros...

Hey! Thanks for commenting! We read some studies on low-carb and ketogenic diets, and based our eating-minigame on those - but this is absolutally not going to be an educational game, so it's not scientifically valid or anything. In short, the game is not an authority on health . Some cases, (like sushi) were hard to give point values to, and even harder to fit into our binary healthy/unhealthy system. We went through a lot of iterations figuring out how to mechanically represent eating junk food as a negative thing, without making it a game about dodging junk food. Eventually we settled on the system you'll see in a future update! -machi
