TIGSource Musical Challenge XXXV - "Going Up?"

The Challenge:

You might have guessed from the name of the challenge... I want you to delve into the groovy, smooth and delightful world of elevator music ! I've always thought elevator music was fun to listen to and even more fun to make.
The type of elevator you're making music for is entirely up to you - if you want to make it a futuristic space elevator, or a steampunk elevator, or an elevator to hell that only goes down, that's great! As long as it retains that elevatory vibe.

Rules:

There are no limitations concerning the instruments used for this challenge.
The tracks must be original work and over a minute in length.
I will pick 3 finalists and then everyone will vote for their favorite track.
Winner gets to host the next challenge!

Criteria:

- Accordance with the rules. Would I actually hear this in an elevator?
- Groove. Do I want to tap my feet to it?
- Melody. Do I want to whistle along to it?
- Originality (if applicable - that's fine if it sounds traditional too!)

Deadline:

October 27th, 2014
(trying out the shorter deadlines model)

And I think that's all I had to say, so pick your floor (tom), push the buttons and enjoy the ride!

P.S. : this challenge was inspired by

, so if you need some inspiration this might be a good start.

Might have to pass... kind of lazy at the moment and have projects to get done.

This sounds like a lot of fun; very busy right now but I'm going to try and submit something.  Kinda wish it wasn't required to be original because I've got a cool idea for an old NES tune.

Leo J, nice work, very dreamy-dessert-islandish sounding.

wow. spot on. loved the SFX.

...guess I'll have to take a more creative approach, as the obvious solution has been defined, understood, and nailed by LeoJ  Beer!

Might give this a go. Since I'm already doing the 30-day music challenge, I'll probably just end up dedication one of my days to this, so I'm not expecting to win, but it sounds like a fun theme, and I'm already getting ideas.

I started recording something for this.  I'll see if I can get most of it done tonight.

I will hopefully have time to throw something together for this on the weekend (which is usually when I do these anyway). It will be a nice break from other things I have to do.

I tried for something different, and went with an elevator who's otherworldly sounds are music in their own right.

Haha that's great! Sounds like something somewhere between music and SFX.

this has basically been done since day 1 but i thought i'd add vocals. but i didn't. here's a song that sounds like it's coming out of an elevator, and as such it's mixed pretty terribly on purpose.

enjoy

(i do have a non-elevator version if you want it without fx but it seemed more appropriate this way)

Alright, today's the deadline - thanks Leo, KeepItSimple and rj for your entries!
However, since there are only three entries and a few others have expressed interest, in order to keep things interesting, I'm going to grant you all a few extra days. I hope you guys won't mind.

So if you had a project started that you never got around to finishing, now's the time!
