The Grand Final results are in for Make Something Unreal now, and the competition is officially over after running for over 2 years.

Snakey (and his team) won 2nd place for Best Game with The Ball, picking up $40,000. I picked up 5th place for Best Game, picking up $10,000, and secured another $5,000 for getting the university I have now graduated from a 3rd place for Best Educational Institution.

Full results here: http://www.makesomethingunreal.com/final_winners.aspx

All 5 grand prize winners are going commercial, so you can look out for them in the future. Some great stuff there from independent studios / developers.

I once participated(second edition) I didn't get any prize , but yeah 2 years it definitely too much for a contest. It destroys your soul. You have to be among the leaders right from the start or just give up. And popularity is key (well, it was at the time there was an important unreal community)

I only entered during Phase 4, no one knew who the hell I was, I was finalist 4 times, and came 1st, 3rd, 3rd and 5th for $21.5K USD total. The Haunted and The Ball, despite being popular, weren't at all the most popular things in the competition at all. Pretty much for the Grand Prize you've got 3 games with the highest production value in the competition, and then 2 oddball games that take Unreal and turn it into something else.

Yeah I suppose the community impact is not as strong today as it was in 2003.
