We in the Washington DC, Baltimore, and Philly indie communities have been working with the Smithsonian American Art museum to put on a pop-up indie arcade on December 7th. We're calling the event "Indies From the Middle" since it mainly features Mid-Atlantic indie devs. We're hoping to get the word out and invite people to attend from all over the indie game dev world.

Indies From The Middle is an effort to not only continue the work done by the Smithsonian when they had the Art of Video Games exhibit, but also set an example for local indie dev communities to band together to celebrate their own work and make connections with their nearby audiences.

We'll be in the courtyard of the Smithsonian American Art Museum showing games and playing classic arcade games provided by MAGFest, the DC-area music and gaming festival. The Smithsonian's post about the event can be found here: http://americanart.si.edu/calendar/event.cfm?trumbaEmbed=eventid%3D112227868%26view%3Devent%26-childview%3D%26returnUrl%3Dhttp%253A%252F%252Famericanart.si.edu%252Fcalendar%252F%2523%252F%253Fi%253D4

The site for the indie developer side can be found here: http://www.lgrace.com/middle/

The event was also featured on Gamasutra, so check it out here: http://www.gamasutra.com/view/news/228741/Smithsonian_plans_popup_arcade_for_December_submissions_open_now.php
