Hi guys!

I'm working on a project at university and I was wondering if using N64 soundfonts for this kind of project would be considered infringement.

Thanks for your help!  Gentleman

Most likely, those samples were created by, or licensed to, the game's developer. So just because they're in a free soundfont doesn't mean they're free to use.  If it's for a university project and you're not making any money from it, I wouldn't worry though.

pgil is correct in theory but don't a lot of n64 games use general MIDI sounds anyway? those should be free to use.

(or at least mario 64 and ocarina of time do)

The point was to have a "N64 style" in my sound choices. I know its is not free because it is a free soundfont, but I was wondering if I could use N64 sounds in a portfolio piece.

In any way, any other suggestion for free sounds that could feel a bit like N64?
