Hi there. My name's Christian. I'm 20, and basically my whole life's dream is to design and make games. I have experience in Game Maker and some MMF2, and I can read C++, and program some of the basics in it. I'm a writer by hobby, mostly of fiction and fantasy. Currently I'm learning how to animate in Flash, as well as do 3D modeling in Maya.

I first got into games simply by virtue of there being nothing else to do in my neighborhood, and my mother didn't want me causing trouble, so at around the age of 5 she bought me a SNES. Played it and was hooked. Since then I've played just about any kind of game under the sun, though I dislike FPSes and sports games. My preferred genre's are action/adventures, platformers, and fighting games.

Currently I'm attempting a platforming game in Flash... but that's another story, so lemme shut up now.

Pleasure to meet the lot of you.

Hey everyone!

I really have nothing to show except that I have been spriting for a year now.
Well.. I started a year ago but all the work I did is around 2 months.

I'm trying to make a indie game except I don't know any programming skills and for some reason its hard to pick up. Even if its beginners... But eventually I'll get it and actually make some fun, creative, and enjoying games.

You should try Game Maker, lots of decent games have been made with it like iji, spelunky, immortal defense, death worm. . .etc but its much easier to pick up than other languages. Like you could program an entire game just using drag and drop functions without writing a single line of code, but you also have the option of coding the entire thing if you want to do more advanced stuff.

There is also a shitload of information availible online on how to use it that other programs don't have (like CS3).

So yeah, I recommend Game Maker.

Thanks, I was suggestion to work on this first and work my way up. And I found a nice tutorial on here for how to code it. And I guess eventually I'll learn how to code on my own after some practice and remembering the codes.

Hello aliens, I come from planet Earth.

I started with all this gaming nonsense watching my brother and his friend playing Dune II. That was back in the early 90s. Many games and years later, I'm here.

Veteran of 3 failed and 0 (zero) successful projects:

As Superman I'm an artist and as Clark Kent I study accountancy. I can:

My current plan is to learn to paint some more as I'd like to have other stuff to show, not only vegetables Smiley (like characters and such) and then also perhaps to animate. (secretly my plan is to be able to model, texture and animate a low-poly character (up to 2000 triangles and 512² texture) in a week). Then I'll be a happy man.

Why I think Indieland is the place to be?
Free fields to roam Smiley and even a small team can make something great around these parts.

Regards,
Lamoot

Hi there,

my name is Tomas and I live in Slovak republic.

My most favourite games are Blueberry garden, Samorost series and basically anything created by Amanita Design.

I was a big fan of old adventure games (Zork:Nemesis, Broken Sword, Gabriel Knight...) and I my dream was to participate in game making one day... and then, after many many years, I came across Samorost games and was so much impressed and inspired that I simply had to make something similar:)

Games I have created so far:

Haluz and Haluz2 - surreal point&click games in Samorost style
Alchemia - my new adventure game with a bit different feel...

I really like creating graphics, programming is not something that I am good in but want to improve:)

That's it!;)

Hey, I'm Dustin from Alaska. Just your typical 19 year old Eskimo who sporadically hefts his opinion around on Play This Thing. I'm in the process of getting a new laptop (old one fried) and am soon going to jump into Game Maker and such. Haha, I have nothing but a couple notebooks of pencilled in game ideas and level designs at the moment (excluding games I made when I was like 7-13), but hopefully I can turn them into something cool. Anywho, See you guys around!  Coffee

Yo, I'm Terence from Las Vegas, formerly Bay Area Cali. Moved here a job. Anyways, I've been programming since I was 12... hitting 30 soon. Since my current job isn't really, "video games" as in more "gaming" (gambling games), I've taken my passion of making video games as a hobby and I found this site.

I've completed about three games, helped developed several more, some commercially published, lots not. I definitely enjoy being able to tinker with code endless now that I'm not pressured by milestones and deadlines. Hopefully I'll have something to present her in a few months time. =)

Hey all, I'm Rhys from a small city in South Australia called Adelaide. I've been into game development now for around 7-8 years and have worked previously in the industry as an artist on mobile phone games ranging from flirt chatting software to worms crazy golf Smiley

Personally I like to dabble in game creation using MMF2 but most of my results aren't worth mentioning! I like to do pixel art on the side as a source of income (freelancing)

You can check out my work here - http://www.rhysd.com

I'm currently studying Game Art at TAFE (college) here in South Australia and would like to one day work as either a texture artist or 3D artist at either a large studio or independant operation!

Glad to meet you all Smiley

i've been lurking around these parts for quite some time now so an introduction might be in order.

my name is martin, i go by the online nick of grapefrukt and my blog is called prototyprally.

i started out with making seven games in five weeks, the most notable of those were hovercrafty, fungus and swallows.

eater of worlds is pretty popular too.

my latest published game is a-steroids4k, a flash game in less than 4096 bytes.

i'm the guy in pink (bonus points for spotting the indies in disguise).

if you went to gdc this year, chances are you've been blessed with one of my moustache stickers.

Good day. This is Gordon. I've experimented in making games a bunch, but never actually finished anything. I primarily use Processing for programming, and would say I have a basic working knowledge of it.
I'm not very skilled graphics wise, maybe minimally 3d, and fairly good with Gimp.
I'm fairly skilled in music, but never tried making any game music. Mostly due to my lack of keyboard usb connector  Roll Eyes.
That is all, Good day.

Ok.. presentation time.

So the name's Luis. I'm a Level Designer at Ubisoft Montreal. Discovered  this amazing site recently and started having fun with the various indie games. I aspire to become a game designer myself but I have little knowledge of programming a part from basic Flash/C++ and basic HTLM. I'm a very good gameplay scripter and prototyper though. I know Source sdk Hammer, some Unreal, Neverwinter Nights 2, RPG maker, game maker and played a bit with Little Big Planet. But that's about it.

I hope I can one day, in the near future, make a small game for you guys to enjoy. Smiley This place looks like a lot of fun. I can't believe I never heard of it before!

Hi - I'm new here.

I'm a student (just 1 year left! woo!) of computer science, a programmer by trade, and a game designer on the side. I worked as a programmer at Ubisoft Québec for a while, and right now in between classes I like to work on making games.

I also have a personal website which hosts the games I've worked on in the past. Check it out: http://www.nagnazul.com/

Alright, my turn.
I'm studying programming at Université du Québec à Montréal and working at CAE for the past 5 months. In my spare time (always hard to find), I'm making a vertical space shooter, with a friend, using XNA. I always loved playing games and this is my first I-won't-abandon-it-next-week project. We started it 6 months ago; we don't have a designer yet and we are focusing on the technical side (collisions, scenes, game state, describing objects in XML, etc. etc.) right now. Anyway, I'll give more info when it will have a better shape Wink

I registered to the forum cause I want to meet other developers/designers/artists/whatever that share the same passion as me.  Beer!

well... my name is Bruno i was first introduced to gaming when my aunt buyd me a gameboy pocket and my brother game me his 1 cartridge of Warioland although years later i got my first pc, afterwards that, i rarely looked at handhelds again. well at least until i crashed my fourth computer and my dad told me to go play with the handheld again this time i buyd Metroid fusion (damn nintendo for not doing any more 2d Metroid games) it was awesome back in the day and still is though now i stay on the pc most of the time so i rarely touch it (not to say i passed the game around 10 times).

the indie games scene first appeared to me when i was browsing the gamemaker community to try and make a game (i still today cannot understand that program Sad ).

my hobbies in general are drawing.... thats preaty much it, i rarely play any games anymore except some indie games when they come out but besides that all i do is draw and sprite or complain... nah but realy i draw normaly much of the time.

though these days spriting has been more difficult for some reason.(drawing examples at my DA at: http://neteroo-bruno.deviantart.com/ Well, hello there! )

due to my lack of normaly having a topic to talk about i rarely say something, normaly i may spend almost hours in the art sections of the forums ive been or am  Hand Pencil .

so all'n'all im a wanna-be game creator that has ideas and grafics but no programing skill. oh and was soposed to have already a comic on the net but im too lazy to digitalize.

also excuse any grammer error my word fails at correcting much.

I guess I should have introduced myself, huh?

Anyway, I'm Kikaru. I've been making (trying to make) games in C++ for three or four years now. I've had marginal success with some of them.

My head is constantly filled with ideas for games, about 1 in 10 of them will be started, and 1 in 20 of those started will actually become playable.

I not as bad of a pixel artist as I think, but I can't do art above 64x64 resolution or by hand, can't write music, etc.

I found this site through a friend.

My name is Zachary James. I've been lurking here for a long time now, and had finally decided to join up and get others to know me more, as I know plenty of you already from reading various posts around here.
You would most likely find me in the art section of these forums, as I do a lot of pixel work and conceptual art. Smiley
