Visit II is really cool. I enjoyed playing it, the only thing that drove me nuts was the music. Everything else is really cool. Welcome back!

Hi, I'm Tom Rab, a programmer from Winnipeg, Manitoba. I first got into game development back when quake 3 modding was really hot. First I attempted modelling; sucked at that, then texturing; sucked at that, level design; sucked at that and finally programming. I didn't suck so much at programming so I stuck with that I kind of backed away from the mod scene for awhile and concentrate at getting better at programming and researching rendering techniques. I worked on an engine with a few people for a couple of years and developed a shader library, which I was quite proud of Last year I finished two projects. Naruto: Naiteki Kensei a mod for Half Life (Goldsrc) and Face Race, an iPhone app for a local company (We Heart Games Inc). Lately I've quit my day job and I'm doing contract iPhone programming. I've also been working with Unity a lot since 2.5 came out, but haven't completed anything with it yet. Mainly just prototyping. Games that really influence me are mostly JRPG's, but there have been a few great Western RPGs such as Mass Effect. I'm also a huge fan of fighting games (Rival Schools, Street Fighter, KOFs, MVC, etc..) and beat em ups (Guardian Heroes was awesome!) Check out my site! http://tomrab.weheartgames.com

Hi my name is Dean and I'm a 25 year old software developer from Manchester, UK. I love to play and create game, which is what you'll find me doing when I'm not being a father and a fience. My day-job requires me to code mostly in Java and occasionally in Objective-C. In my spare time I make games mainly with Flex and AS3. I also have some experience of creating games using C++ and OpenGL (which was the combination of choice for my games development degree), as well as some C# and XNA stuff. I love all types of games and will give most games at least an hour of my time, during which they need to have grabbed me or they get binned for something else. Being a father I get very little time to myself as it is :p Ive been reading these forums for a couple weeks now and it seems like a community I'd like to be part of, I look forward to talking-some-games with you all I have blog site which details my experiences with making flash games if anyone is interested at: http://www.levelbylevel.comAlong with an old personal site which has a C++ tutorial and some old examples of work, which is at: http://codiecode.wordpress.comHello World! -Dean

Hello, My Name is Nicolas Goles, I'm a Computer Science student majoring in Software Engineering in Santiago, Chile. I have been developing games independently (or at least trying to ), since about October 2008. My main platform is iPhone OS, but have done quite a bit in OS X and Linux. Mainly C and C++ with (OpenGL ES || OpenGL) and of course Objective-C. At the moment I am working on my first actual med-sized project, a social "pseudo RPG" iPhone Game with a small team ( of 2 people , me and an Artist) ,here in Santiago. It's great to have found this community, and from reading the forums I can see there's a lot of great people here. Hope to be able to put a link to my portfolio/website as soon as it's ready. Cya all in the forums/IRC channel.

Hi I'm Johan, I've been lurking this forum for some time, and decided I want to be a part of this community. Like so many others, I am a programmer. I know C++ and a little Java. As long as I've programmed I've made games (I recently abandoned my fourth serious project). My family got a NES a year before I was born, so I basically grew up with games. At present I'm working on a project for school which I've started six months early width.

Hi all, my name is Jared Cowing, I'm a film and game music composer currently exploring and learning about the indy game community. I recently graduated from a music school where I focused on film scoring, collaborating with over a dozen filmmakers on projects that ranged from music produced in Logic to music rehearsed and recorded with full orchestras. I love games and I love the music that's in them, I wouldn't want to do anything else for a living! I have a website under construction, until it's up my demo reel is temporarily located at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=igNOUgmHkJ0I look forward to discussing games with everyone and learning more about the other sides of the game production process! Though I've already introduced myself, I thought I'd add an update that I've since gotten a website up and running with clips of my music sorted by style, if you'd like to check it out you can find it here: www.jaredcowing.comFeedback on the site and the music is always much appreciated!

Hello,
I'm Brazilian and I work with interactive advertising in Barcelona, and have fell in love with indie games and how we interact with stuff. One thing I really like about indie games is that they arent mainstream, and show us new perspectives.
Im interested in being able to collaborate in projects even not knowing to program, but bringing a different view in storytelling and game design.

Hello, I'm co-owner of Canadian indie developer Couchware Inc. We recently released our first game Wezzle, which you can try for free from our site. I've enjoyed playing video games since my hands were sufficiently dexterous enough to play them. I started on an Intellivision until my brother fried it by spilling milk on it. My next system was an NES many years later which I absolutely loved and still do. The only system that comes to close to it was my beloved SNES. Game-wise, I like both casual and hardcore games, although I find myself playing casual games more due to less time. I have a special place in my heart for RPGs and plan on making one as a sort of magnum opus one day. My skills as they relate to developing indie games are programming (I'm quite proficient with Java, C#, PHP and JavaScript), project management and some art-related work. Over the course of making Wezzle I became fairly proficient with GIMP and Inkscape (I can't bring myself to pirate Adobe stuff anymore). Anyway, I hope you guys will try Wezzle out and give it a fair shake, as we put a lot of blood and sweat into it and we're pretty proud of what we accomplished. Regards, Cameron

Hi everyone!
My name is Anton and I'm from Russia. I love games, programming and ACM programming contests. That's why I'm here. At my work at Intel I'm working on GPA (Graphics Performance Analyzer) and that's great thing for me. In my spare time I'm reading, programming small graphical library for Linux to easy use of 3D capabilities of GPUs. I'd like to see much image quality in Linux games. Also I'm working on small puzzle game along with OpenGameArt community, cause I like to work with these guys and game idea they proposed looks quite well for me!

Hiyo, I'm Megamanky. I'm 27 year old artist who loves vejegames and art. So much that I'd rather be knee deep in dept from college loans then not do something game related. Instead of going the 3d art commercial route I found a little company called Game lab and worked there for 4 years doing casual games. It was great to work on very different projects each time. I got out around the time the licensed game projects started happening. Those aren't very fun =/ The next year was spent making an indie game with my pixel/programming partner. It's yet to be finished ... omg it is hard work someonepatmeonthebackb4isplode. Eventually I'd like to get to that point where we update our site on a regular basis :B www.endlessfluff.com I'm excited to join the forums for some brotherly/sisterly support and to play some 'o yo games. That's about all I can think of. I'm a simple formula. 1 part artist and 1 part game developer. Some people will argue I'm another part cat but those people over exaggerate.

howdy, my name is jon lucius, although online i tend to go by either jonny luscious or barfing dog. i'm not a huge fan of capitalization, but if that annoys you let me know and i'll try to capitalize a random word here and there.
i'm one of those guys that have multiclassed too much and is suffering because of it. i've been in college hopping majors for the last 12 years and will finally be graduating next month. i hope to make at least part of my income making games (both video games and 'traditional' games) so i thought it best to try to socialize with others who do so. i tend to have quite a bit of social anxiety, even when it comes to posting on a forum for the first time... sooo i typically stay on smaller forums (i'm sure some would consider this a small forum, but it's like gigantor to me.)
anyway, i suppose a quick bio is in order. i started programming when i was 6 or 7 on a PCjr. my dad taught a variety of vocational courses and had a computer lab... my brother snatched my copy of jumpman without my knowledge, so when i turned on the pc it booted to cartridge basic. i asked my mom what it was and she typed in a small program from a book to make the screen change colors... as a videogame obsessed child, i was hooked from then on.... the problem was that i didn't have any good way of learning. the book that mom used to write that program didn't teach more than just that... changing screen colors, printing text to the screen, etc. i messed around over the next few years until we finally got a PC at home. the biggest step for me was when we got qbasic which had excellent help files. no longer did i have to guess random words to learn to program... instead i could start with what i knew and go from one 'see also' to the next. i stuck with qbasic/quickbasic throughout high school as well as toying around with pascal. once i got to college i worked mostly in c++ (although we also had a few assignments in java and perl.) by that time programming books started showing up in stores and libraries (not to mention that whole interweb thing came into my life) so i've learned quite a bit more. i don't really enjoy win32 programming that much so i've focused mostly on flash/actionscript over the last few years. after i swapped from being a computer science major, programming has become more of a hobby activity for me... but now that i am finally finishing up my career as a full-time student i plan to give it much more of my time.
other skills that might matter would be musical knowledge (i did finish up an associates degree in music amongst my major hopping and i play a wide variety of instruments... currently playing accordion in 3 bands.) i was a decent artist in highschool, but i am so far out of practice that i can barely draw anything without a reference... hopefully i will work my way back up to an acceptable skill level soon. in the other online communities that i make myself part of, i am told that i am an idea man... which i do like to think that i am... but most of my ideas tend to fall outside of my skill level. i would love to someday be part of a team where i could focus more on design and content creation than programming (although not totally getting out of the programming side... just perhaps not being the MAIN programmer.)
oh, i'm also a bit of a rambler... so my attempt to make a short bio is utterly a failure. i haven't even mentioned the typical stuff like my age (i'll be 30 in about a month) or that i'm unmarried. my website is also not currently up... i'll try to update this when it is if i don't forget.
oh yeah, and my taste in games might be important... i try to sample just about everything i can get my hands on, but my preference is for games that can appeal to a wide age range (not a big fan of 'M' titles, although some do have excellent gameplay)... i tend to prefer 2D gameplay, but there are plenty of 3D games i like as well. i don't typically have time to play long games, so games that can be done in small sessions tend to be best for me. i also prefer multiplayer games, but i rarely play online with strangers as trash talk really gets on my nerves. (i used to play on battle.net a lot, but when i played official matches the other players would constantly insult me whether i was winning or losing... i found it much more desirable to just play casual matches.)
i suppose i have rambled enough... i will end your suffering and stop.

I draw.
It's all crap, though. You can be rest assured of that. I still enjoy it, I have more love for style rather than skill. I'm still finding my own style.

Hi guys, My name is Andrei. I am a C++/Python programmer. When I was learning Python I wrote 'Eesti Rocket Multiplayer' game, which was a 2d space shooter. I did not finished it. It is left as a prototype. But you can find it on SourceForge: http://sourceforge.net/projects/erocket/ Currently me and my friend are busy with a turn based strategy game (in C++ with Allegro) called Wargame Project: http://wargameproject.com I wish good luck to all of you in your projects and endeavors. May the force be with ye. Best Regards, Andrei

I don't know how to start this post so I am just going to write it. My forum name up there on the left is JoGribbs, which is a lot like my actual name (though not quite). In real life I'm a 17 year old philosophy student living in England. On the internet however, all I do is talk about video games and make pixel art. Since a lot of other people seem to be talking about how they got into games I thought I'd do that; The first video game I ever played was Pokemon Red, though I can't say it left much of an impression on me. The first game I played like crazy to completion was The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Seasons for the Game Boy Colour. Since then I've managed to track down every Zelda game and play them through, as well as a whole lot of other games. Twilight Princess was the first game I ever anticipated the release of, and the first where I actually went on to the internet to oggle at it, and talk about it before it was even out, something I have done a whole lot of since. I started pixeling about 8 years ago; though I wouldn't really call it pixelling: I just used to recolour Sonic the Hedgehog sprites. I only really started pixeling when I was a member of The Spriter's Resource about 6 years ago. There I learnt a whole lot from lot of great pixel artists (anti-aliasing, contrasting colours, animation etc.). The work I did for the Spriter's Resource (that was accepted anyway) can be found here: http://www.spriters-resource.com/submitter/Bucketboy. Though, like I said, that was about 6 years ago. Most of it's garbage, but it's kind of nice to look back and see how much I've improved. I was also playing around with Game Maker at that time, though nothing ever came of it. I guess my first contact with anything 'indie' was Cave Story, which I first played through about 3 years ago, though I've completed it a couple of times since. I love it, and inspired me to take up pixeling again. I also started messing around with Game Maker in my spare time, but it was difficult doing it at the same time as my school work. It was only about 6 months ago that I started using GML properly. I'm pretty terrible at programming, and I'm not even that great at pixeling, but I'm always trying to improve. Some might say that's an admirable quality :/. So in the last couple of months I've been trying to take an interest in the indie game scene using sites like IndieGames.com and, of course, TIGsource, though I've been interested in game design theory for a whole lot longer. And then I decided to join the forums, where I took a whole day to write an introduction post because I went to somebody's house today and played Borderlands for 6 hours straight. It was fun.
