I realized that I've neglected to obey the rules of the land, and so am posting here now in hopes of avoiding violent retribution.   Who, Me?

My name is Matt Sams, I'm 28, live in Kentucky (USA), and I'm a typical gamer with idle daydreams of being a moderately successful indie game developer.

Gaming for me started out with my dad (now deceased) hanging out in arcades after movies, etc.  Some of my best memories involve him coming home late from work, getting me out of bed and taking me down to the local gas station to waste some quarters on a Bionic Commando box.  That got me started, and my first NES loaded up with the Legend of Zelda and Mario Bros/Duck Hunt cemented it as a life long obsession.

As far as development goes, I guess that goes back to my childhood as well.  I used to spend a lot of time with pencil and paper just drawing out endless platformer levels with silly traps, etc.  My friends and I thought we'd make the best games ever.  So now I guess I'm going to try to.

I'm a coder primarily, all self-taught (actually went to school to be a pastry chef!).  I was into QuickBASIC during my early teens, picked up some C/C++ on the way, then LPC for a MUD I worked on for a decade or so.  Found C#/XNA about a year or so ago, and haven't looked back since.   Hand Thumbs Up Right Hand Thumbs Up Left  Plan on picking up AS3/Flashpunk sometime soon, I think.

Anyway, I'm currently working on You Are The Castle with The Hamburglar, and am hoping to release it (my first officially released game) later this year.

So, cheers!   Beer!

Hi, my name is Luigi, and I am an Indie developer.
Since child, did it impress me the development of the video games, did I wonder me, as do they do?
The years have passed and for my fortune I have succeeded in approaching me to this world. I would like to enter in the "industry", if I cannot pass from the principal "door", then I will enter from the "window".  Smiley

These people irritate the hell out of me. My friend is always talking like this...

What's even more annoying is when I show him a screenshot of TF2 and he bursts out laughing saying "That looks well crap! Haha! I'll stick with COD"

I'm Andrew I go by the username Anaryu since it's neat, sounds close, and most importantly isn't registered on every website under the sun.

I've been playing games since I was a kid, though mostly just watching them at my friends house until my early teens.

I started by making text-based adventure games in C or C++, eventually found a program called RPG Maker and started learning that (have managed to build some odd genres like shooter and action in that), and have moved to GameMaker and other engines since.

I've mostly done short games for contests to become familiar with many different genres and platforms (http://anamei.net/index.php?p=rpage&page=Projects)

Hyello! About time I signed up.

I don't mess with programming as much as I used to in High school, but I have 2 friends who have posted games to these forums (iMoose and lasttea999). Don't expect anything directly from me any time soon, the game I'm working on will take a lot of work and it's barely started. Though I do help with level design and balance in my friends' games. The specific reason I created this account was to post a bug in he Paradise Fort thread. And I'm off!

Hi there! I signed up awhile ago but never really introduced myself. I've had an interest in game programming and game design very early on, and I've worked on honing myself to be as great as possible in either.

I am a programmer by trade, with most of my experience being in Java. I won't shrink away from learning other languages or tool sets though, as long as something fun can come out of doing so. I do IT consulting nowadays, but I always find time to look up video game news and to help out an old friend with a WC3 mod.

The game genres that I have the greatest interest in are RTS and TBS. My fondest memories of gaming come from playing multi-player in Blizzard RTS games and the Advance Wars series, and playing the campaign modes for those games along with the Command & Conquer series and the Red Alert series.

I hope to be a valuable person to this community! Barring that, I'll at least lurk and have fun delving into the content that comes up here.

Hi guys, i'm a new poster on the forums even though ive been lurking in the shadows for about a year now.
My name is Liam, im 17 and live in the greater London area. I've been playing games since before i can remember and got my first games console (PSX) when I was about... 9? I can remember renting out the Crash Bandicoot and Spyro games and returning them 2 days later, completed

I've been programming with game maker for about 3 years now, but only recently finished my first game (Ninjammin Beat-jitsu) which i made for the yoyogames competition05 (and won second place too! Grin ) so i figured its a good time to join a forum

Long time lurker, first time poster.

I don't really know anything about making indie games. I have little to no creativity beyond concept-creation. I am awful at pixel art, programming and sound design, so that's pretty much it.

But I'm really into PLAYING and supporting indie game producers. There's something really personal about indie games, as opposed to the giant cookie-cutter stuff that bigger studios pump out. I started with a link to Spelunky, and here I am a year later. Yay!

Hello, my name is Anton, an 18 year old fellow from Sweden. I picked up the interest of gaming when I was very young. We had some kind of computer or something called Atari. I remember loving to play Arkanoid with my friends, but sadly enough we threw the Atari away due to it stopped working. As for the games my dad cleared them and thought we could use them as usual floppy disks. I currently own a PSOne who can read downloaded games (downloaded and kopied to a CD), but I also own games such as Crash Bandicoot 2: Cortex Strikes Back, Hugo: Jakten pĺ solstenarna (Hugo and the hunt for the sun stones in english I think), 007: Tomorrow never dies etc.

When I was about 13 or so I found Game Maker and tried to create my own game, but due to lack of interest I didn't really complete anything. Now days the interest has increased and I am currently trying to make a game using sprites from Little Fighter 2 that I have named "Woody's Adventure". Sounds a bit lame, but that's the name for now. I also have another project that's in a stand by due to schoolwork etc. The name of that game is "The White Ninja's Adventure" *I love the word adventure^^* and in that game all sprites are created by me.

That's about everything you need to know about me^^

Hi my name is NineVSquid. The name came from the Smash Bros Brawl random name generator if you want to know. In hindsight it actually sounds kind of stupid! I'm from the UK. Male. 20 years old. Fairly tall

I... Already showed up here a while back to try and contribute a bit to Indie Brawl. I didn't contribute as much as I wanted, due to University. I'm introducing myself properly now, since it's apparently obligatory and I didn't realise.  Undecided

My gaming experience started with Super Mario 64. I guess I came in a lot later than a lot of gamers, but since then that retro polygon style it has has always stayed with me. I got into adventure games later, which is probably my favourite genre. Although I actually suck at them, I just like the way a game can still be playable and consist mostly of talking and slow problem solving. I quite like story in games, and tend to put focus onto that above gameplay. my favourite game right now is Iji.

I've been coding in Blitz 3D for six years, but never finished anything, since I tended to set my sights too high. I picked it up again a while back to practice finishing things, And because I'm no longer at University right now. I don't know what direction to go in just yet, but one day I hope to finish my main project. But until then I'll probably set my sights a little lower.

Uh huh, I think that's about everything..

I've been making games for a few years now, but I've only finished a few small ones. I like to make things that I haven't seen done before, but I usually lose interest before I finish them. I'm trying to work on that  Shrug

I mainly use game maker because of how easy it is to turn out something quickly. I'm not a very good artist, but I'm trying to get better.

You can see some of my games at http://www.yoyogames.com/users/block0man, but most of them are pretty old, and almost all of them were jokes.

Howdy everybody,

I have been working in the games industry for a few years, mostly for large brands, and decided about a year ago to go the Indie way.

I have set up with a few friends a company in France called Brain Candy. We are currently working on our first title, and I hope you will enjoy it. After 9 months of struggle, creating our first game design, prototyping and testing, rewriting it cause it sucks, and starting over, building a business plan, finding the right technology, analyzing the market, meeting with lawyers and accountants, securing funding, finding suitable offices, buying equipment and licenses... we are finally ready to roll.

Luckily for us, people have been very supportive in our ups and downs while we were exploring the obscure french laws of corporate creation. It was a tough path, but we made it through! Huzzah !

Now starts the real hard part, but also the fun one: creating a game.

I hope you will find my contributions here to your liking and look forward to meeting you all!

Hello Tigsourcers  Smiley

I am enjoying this site a lot.

Been coding games, gfx and sound production for a long time now, but have always remained indie. There's so much to be inspired by here, and so many inspiring games to play.  I'm been working on some recently, and will maybe show them on the devlogs or somewhere.

Anyway that's about it for now, so thanks for letting me talk about myself and look forward to meeting you.

Hello there.
I'm an 19-year-old guy from Denmark.

I'm fairly new to programming (been programming C++ in my freetime for about 1,5 year) and very new to game programming (started looking at SDL a few months ago).

My first encounter with the TIGForums wasn't very positive, as it was a thread about Probability 0, which was way too similar to my first serious game project. (Here's some of the initial doodles: http://i.imgur.com/UT4Ft.png). Luckily that didn't scare me away from this awesome community which I've been lurking a lot lately. Wink

I'm a huge fan of 8- and 16-bit video games, pixel art and chip tunes, like many of you, and because of this the stuff I work on often end up being highly influenced by this.

See you guys around. And thanks for all the awesome games you make. Hand Thumbs Up Left
