Well hello there people!

My name's Elisée, I'm 22 and I live in Strasbourg, France.

I've always loved being creative. When I was 8, I happened to stumble on an illustrated BASIC programming book with monsters making little programs. Ever since then, I haven't spent a month without starting a new prototype, working on some game/app, etc.

I recently left my job as a game programmer to work on my own projects full-time as an indie game dev. My job was mostly good (and I learned an awful lot) but some of it didn't make sense to me (mostly contract work which I don't enjoy and not having as much creative freedom / decision power as I would have liked). Basically, I feel really great now, being in charge, deciding what matters and what doesn't.

During my last few months at my old job, I worked mostly on QuadSmash, a very fast-paced, frantic multiplayer arcade game for XBLIG & PC. I'm very proud of what we created. It was awesome playing this game every single day (not exaggerating) at lunchtime and still enjoying the crap out of it. (Here's the trailer if you want to check it out).

Now that I'm working on my own, I want to empower more people to make their own stuff, by lowering the technical barrier to entry. To me, games like Minecraft have made it clearer than ever people want to express themselves by telling stories & building worlds. But I want more: why stop at crafting great buildings, when you could create adventures & full games?

That's why I'm building a real-time, multiplayer game making tool (devlog here)! I've already spent about 3 months worth of full-time work on it, and it's shaping up pretty well. It's called CraftStudio and you can grab a pre-alpha version here: http://craftstud.io/

If you fancy it, you could follow me on Twitter @elisee (or @craftstudiodev for CraftStudio-related updates).

By any chance was it this book?

It looks a lot like this one, but it's a bit more cartoony and it's in French. I suspect the two are related though (maybe mine is a rip off  Shocked), because of the pictures with number in the top left and colors.

Hello,

i am wzl, but for some reason they didn't put that on my birth certificate.

I like games, and beards, and guitars and chiptunes. Also I like the selection of emoticons available on this forum. :D

I am struggling to get aknowledged by our society bt it turns out that this endeavour is useless, and therefore i am trying to be an awesome indie game developer rock star instead, so let's see how that turns out.

I am an OpenGL/C# kind of guy and i started coding a couple of years ago, with making games being my motivation. I was always kind of lax on the whole topic, but i serioused it up and being coding furiously now.

Thanks for your attention,
good evening!

Hello

I enjoy programming and games.  For me making games was inevitable.

Right now I work as a carpenter.  I'm still trying to figure out how making games will pay the bills.

I like to code in C++ and am terrible at art.

I am currently addicted to roguelikes.

Here is the game I am working on now.

Hello!

My name is Kasra Kyanzadeh and I'm an 18-year-old first-year Computer Science student at the University of Toronto.  I've just finished developing my first game, Swing Away. It's for iPhones and iPod touches (iPad version coming as soon as I have time!). Previously I worked in web development (you can check out all my projects at my website).

Feel free to get in touch with me if you'd like to chat!

Hello!  You guys can call me "xrabohrok" (I have no idea how it is pronounced).

I'm the president of a small game dev group in a medium-size Illinois college.  As a result, I've become a jack-of-all-trades, but master of none.  I'm majoring in Computer Science, so I have a good grip on a lot of programming, but I'm also competent at drawing and computer design.  You will probably see me hanging around talking about Blender, and at times 3DS Max.  I've gotten really good with C# and XNA due to the previous projects our group have tackled.  I'm also crazy.

My hobby is to make monsters.  I draw them out, and if I like it enough I model it in blender.  One of these days I will post some of my better ones.

I've worked on four or five projects, but they aren't exactly mine to show.  So I will probably tackle a project when Christmas break rolls around, probably with Unity.

Did I mention I'm crazy? Hand Knife RightBig Laff

Hello. Let me introduce myself with my first post here.

I started developing games about 15 years ago. Basically I made games I like in QuickBASIC together with a good friend for some years. While getting more and more experienced in this language the final games of that time usually had VGA graphics with customized palettes, mouse control, sound effects and custom made level editors. I even made my own sprite editor in QuickBASIC with a self-invented file format to save some disk space compared to bmp. One of the games we even published to the internet which was a rather calm place those days. So we got almost no feedback  at all Embarrassed.
With the new millenium I made some testing with C++ and Direct3D and also Java but somehow lost the motivation to continue programming.
Just recently my daily job brought me to Python and I started thinking about developing games again. I gave it a try at a Mini Ludum Dare compo and just recently at LD21 (http://www.ludumdare.com/compo/ludum-dare-21/?action=preview&uid=4834) which was great fun. So I try to get back to all the fine arts of doing game design, programming, making nice pixel arts and stuff.

I plan to enter the TIGSource competition in December so I created this forum account. Until now I was just a reader of DevLogs, pixel art and business threads here. So let's start contributing...

Hello I’m an Artist currently working on a solo 2d project and writing a script for an upcoming project. I do dabble in some programming but I prefer to work on character designs and artwork over programming.

I prefer most types of game and currently playing Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor Over clocked and Xenoblade Chronicles.

Hello!  I've been registered for quite some time actually but never took time to post until recently XD  Except for back in the day some noobish post from a very old terrible project from who knows how long ago  Cheesy

Anyway, I'm a college kid now.  My gaming years started with SNES which my parents bought before I was born.  I never quite grew out of that game system, I still play it more than my Wii.  Earthbound for SNES is still without a doubt my biggest influence in game creation-

It just has that lovely dare to be different feel that I love.  I have so many fond memories of playing it as a kid.  I played Mother 3, but I beleive it lacks the awesome happy yet awesome feel of Earthbound.  There'll never be another EB...
RIP-Earthbound Mock Anger

My second biggest influence has to be the Animal Crossing series in general.

When I was in 7th Grade I got Animal Crossing Wild World for Christmas.  I was instantly hooked.  I played it from then until I lost during the next fall  Cry  Probably best or else I might still be playing it now...  I tried playing City Folk and such but it was unsuccessful in holding my interest long enough like Wild World did.  I beleive some of the magic was gone since I was almost an adult when City Folk came out.

So to be completely honest, I think a lot of my projects are just me attempting to recreate those awesome times I had with those 2 games.  Beg
But outside of my gaming life...well notice I didn't talk much about current games?  Shrug  To be honest I don't play video games much anymore.  I'm usually busy doing something else, like playing Banjo or working or college.  I'm a blue grass addict  Addicted I play a banjo myself and have plans to learn to play a Dobro.

I'm always on a quest for knowledge in hopes to discover something new.  I am going to college to get Agricultural Education and Cultural Anthropology (with emphasis on Archaeology).  I plan to double major in these subjects and get certified to teach Ag. at a high school level.

The reason I design games is because I love story telling.  The reason I love doing open world games is because I pretty much just make a world with small stories and then the player makes the rest.  It's an excuse for me to be creative, so I take it.  Right now I'm working on a project that's going through some name pending...I beleive I may call 'The Hobo Detective in: The Curse Of The Swamp Monster'.  It's a mix of Animal Crossing and...uh well some EB humor?  And a detective Game I never played?  Plus some Harvest Moon Stuff?  Which I never played either.
Either way, if you've seen me on TDC I go by Wiiman, but Wii's not so cool anymore  Gentleman  And I'm not a fangamer like the old days so I decided to use my real name here.  Anyway, I'm hoping that maybe I can get some games out there and then one day sell a few on the side for money.  I also look forward to meeting everyone on Tig!
