I am the founder and (currently) the sole member of Monokromatik Labs. PC gaming has been my hobby for as long as I can remember (not that far back) and I aspire to eke out a living as an independent game developer.

Heyo, I hope this is the right place. I'm The Riet, you might know me, you might not. Chances are the latter though. I've been trying to get myself into the indie scene for a while now, started with simple maps for Half-Life, progressed onto stuff like RPG Maker, Game Maker, Adventure Game Studio, but haven't quite found the "right" environment yet. I've enjoyed everything I've done so far, but I've just never been much of a programmer myself, which very obviously limits what I can do. That said, I sure have large dreams for myself, game ideas float in and out of my head all the time, my only issue being that I haven't had the means to create such games yet. The most I've done is mess about in Game Maker, copy and paste bits of code from different examples, tweak them a bit, and come up with a decent platforming setup, but I felt like I was cheating. The main project I really want to do is a side-scrolling beat-em-up in the style of TMNT2-4, River City Ransom, or the recent Scott Pilgrim game, but I have no idea where to begin. Coding it relatively from scratch feels overwhelming, while Game Maker feels...limited for what I want, and I haven't found the happy medium that will allow me to make the game that's haunted me for the past few years. Otherwise, I'm an unemployed but fairly experienced level designer/voice actor/artist/gamer/cook. My very unfinished and needs-to-be-updated website can be located at: http://killer12137.bulletpain.com/My YouTube, which houses both random game sessions and development videos: http://www.youtube.com/user/RietRiotAnd finally, my very empty devblog named after the entity I hope to actually release something under: http://pointless-games.tumblr.com/Hopefully I'll learn a thing or two while I'm here! Looking forward to hanging out here at least.

Hi my name is Ethan and I'm probably one of the newbiest newbies to game development that you can find. I've tried a lot of tools such as game maker and construct but don't seem to really be getting anywhere with them, and I've recently started trying to program. At the moment I'm learning Python but I plan to move on to Actionscript when I get a bit better. I'm also learning how to make pixel art which is turning out to be extremely fun.
If anyone has any advice for me with development it would be much appreciated! :D

Hi all. My name is Guillermo but most people call me Character. I'm in my sixth year in the industry and currently pursuing indie dreams. I normally do 2d and 3d art and I am now branching out to design and programming so I can make my own small, indie games. Currently living in the East Bay in northern Cali. Grew up on Atari and NES and have been playing video games ever since =)

Heyho, for some reason I feel "obligated" to introduce myself. I'm Thomas Schulze, known as "Schrompf" to some parts of the internet, 33 years old and living in Germany. I'm doing spare time game development for quite some time now... my first release was a little maze shooter written in AMOS language for the Amiga in 1992. I haven't stopped since then, finished a few other games together with my twin brother and some friends. I worked as a coder for the game industry, then worked for "standard" software development companies, and now I'm finally trying to start my own little indie game development studio. Let's see how far it will take me. Apart from that I'm still the head of Dreamworlds Development - we're still working at "Splitterwelten" and I hope to finish and publish it as an indie game some day. But for the moment, other projects are more important.

I've been here for a couple of months, but don't remember introducing myself. So here it goes! About meMy name is Martino, I'm 22 years old and live in the Netherlands near Amsterdam. I'm currently a student following Interactive Media at the university of Amsterdam and am in my final year. Went into the course with dreams of becoming an artist, but that soon changed. I followed and actionscript class the first year, became absolutely terrified of programming ,and failed the course. Had to pass it the next year and got a bit more into it, and caught the programming bug. (completed the course with a 9 out of 10, strange how things go) While gamedevelopment seemed interesting, I was sure I wasn't capable enough with my bad math skills. But I took a game design minor last year and decided to throw away all my fear and just go for it. So here I am now, becoming more capable of programming games(still suck at maths), also have some artist skills, but those are not best either. I'm a bit of an all-arounder in programming and art it seems, but I do lean more towards the programming side. Wonder where this will get me! Favorite gamesI grew up in the SNES era, so I'm a sucker for old skool 2D games;LoZ link to the past, super mario, donkey kong and pokemon are among my favorite games. But indie games like super meat boy and cave story have also captured my heart more recently. Current projectI'm currently working on my graduation project, which is ofcourse a game If all goes well I will post a devlog in about 2 weeks, so keep your eyes peeled :D

I'm Zach B, and I go by TheNineRings or some variant of it on the web. I'm 19, and currently unemployed. Thus, I have a massive amount of free time, and I generally spend it playing freeware. My current favorites are Cave Story, nomltest, and Torus Trooper.
I've practically no programming knowledge whatsoever, but I've come here to learn. Also, I'm using Scirra's Construct Classic to do so.
Sorry about the formality, but I've always found intro threads to be tricky.

Hello folks, my name's Dave but I'm releasing games under the banner of Smudged Cat Games. I've lurked in these forums for a while but I thought I'd come out of hiding to see if anyone is interested in the game I'm currently working on, Gateways. I'm 33 and have made games on and off my whole life. I've released several games for XBLIG and one called The Adventures of Shuggy on XBLA. The XBox doesn't seem to be getting me a particularly wide audience so I'm trying out releasing stuff for PC these days. I have a website with details of all my stuff on it - http://www.smudgedcat.comCheers, Dave

Hi everyone! I'm Ryan but I go by the name Hijinkz from time to time. I'm part of a small outfit of game developers making mobile games. I've been in the games industry for almost 7 years now with the bulk of my experience being a game reviewer for a now defunct game site. I'm working on my second year at being a community manager and loving every second of the game development life. One of my goals is learn how to get my hands messy with coding beyond basic HTML. Looking forward to jumping into the discussion with everyone! Lastly, I really like this smiley face for reasons unknown to me:

Hello friends! My name is Lucas Jock, and I am a game designer/producer/director. I'm 22 years old, and from Brazil. I'm new in this area. I always loved playing video games, like most of you here, I presume At about 3 years ago I started working with them. I did a game for my technologist "term paper", and then me and some friends started an indie studio called TawStudio ( www.tawstudio.com). We've already released two titles, an Indie web-game (Mr. Bree: Returning Home( www.kongregate.com/games/TawStudio/mr-bree-returning-home) and a educational one (O Desafio do 5S "the Five 5 Challenge"). We have a couple of friends here at TIGForums, but I'm new to it (so sorry if I misbehave somehow), and I know here's a great place for meeting others developers and getting games feedbacks. As a starter, I hope to participate each time more here, and make lots of new friends. I(we) love making games, so we surely have a lot in commom. (If you are a Chrono Trigger/Chrono Cross/Starcraft/CounterStrike/Dota/Animes fan, we are already best friends!) :D Cheers for all! See you! =)

Hey all, I'm zoq. I got into gaming at the age of 6 or 7 when I got a C64. Soon after I got interested in reading a BASIC manual and made some pretty awesome games (the most advanced of which was probably "How old are you? Oh, you are [older than|younger than|the same age as] me!").
After C64 I played probably with every major platform up to PlayStation 1. It's extremely difficult to name any favorite games from the past, but I guess I have to say SMB3, Zelda 3, Pokemon, Little Big Adventure, Space Empires 3, X-Com 3 and Fallout 2.
More recently I have been playing mostly sandboxy games, such as Dwarf Fortress, Unreal World, EVE Online and MC.
In the university I had an opportunity to learn some programming and in fact get a profession out of it. I also got back to game making after a total break of 12 or so years.
On these forums I hope to see awesome projects grow and maybe get a bit of feedback for some of my own.

Hey everyone! New to the forums, and a new indie development publisher and developer. I can post a little more information below about myself and the company for you! Feel free to PM me at anytime, or email me at michael[AT]VespyrGames[DOT]com Myself:In short, is that I've worked on 4 video game titles. 1st release was on PC, 2nd was at Obsidian Entertainment on Alpha Protocol (PS3, Xbox 360, PC), and 2 iPhone games. Per NDA can't publically post it, but my current position of over a year now is a Lead Coach at Microsoft on the Xbox 360. I have a Bachelors in GSP (Game and Simulation Programming) from DeVry University, and I also took 2 years of Entrepreneurship. Production is my love, and I often get asked why because no one usually wants to be a producer they get stuck in it. For me, it's my love and passion, I love using MS Project, Excel, Word, PPT, Outlook, even programs like SharePoint to name just a few. Everything I can get my hands on I love to learn about and play with, video game related but also anything technology related. About us: Started in March 2012, Vespyr Games is a Video Game Publisher and Developer, founded upon creating unique, fun, and innovative games for PC/XBLA/PSN and Mobile Devices. Beginning in the Flash and Mobile space, Vespyr Games is growing in size quickly to repease $5-$15 size titles. With how hard it is to get into the video game industry, we set out to help developers that have the skill but struggle to get into a larger company by reaching out and helping them finish their projects, releasing it under our name so they get an official release title to their name before bringing them on the team. They get the larger portion of the sales and credit, we just help get it out and marketed reasonably. Current Developments:Working on multiple video game project and started an indie development studio a few weeks ago. We are working on our first project to release as a 'proof of concept' so when we go to a publisher, investor, or a crowd funding source we have something to show as a history for the company on top of ourselves. The website teaser is up as we build the website, along with building the internal team and developing multiple titles. Over just the past few weeks are working on 3 internal projects ranging in size, and 3 external developments we picked up to improve and release under our brand. We're starting out small in flash/mobile, to show we can do something as a team outside our individual skill sets. Our skill sets are higher than flash for quality and size, but the first few games are stepping stones as we grow. Our goal is to be a PC/XBLA/PSN size developer for the $10-$15 range release title, with potential porting to mobile devices. Our first 2 internal projects are being built in Flash with the AIR plug-in, so it can be converted to iPhone/Android along with flash release. Our 3rd title though, is being build in Unity for PC/XBLA/iPhone/Android and is a larger game probably at the $510 price point, at least now at its current size. Can't argue with an obligatory thread but...honestly, does anyone actually read this? Anyway, my name is Poya and I'm a software developer. After finishing university in Australia I spent about 3 years at Microsoft working on IE 7 and IE 8. I then moved to Haifa, Israel to work as a volunteer at the Bahá'í World Centre, until very recently. As long as I can remember I've been interested in game development and graphics programming. In the past couple of years I have become more interested in the area of serious and educational games. The term "educational game" is kind of overloaded...I guess I'm interested in games that give the player a more meaningful experience. I'm currently working on a children's game titled "Connectorium". You can see my progress on my blog: http://gamesforsoul.com

Hi there! I'm Jordin Kee, game developer from the Netherlands. I have a job as game programmer at a serious game company. Pretty interesting with 3D camera's and all sorts of sensors/devices (the games are used in physical therapy). But, still, my heart is at game design. And so I work on my own little games in the evening hours and the weekends that don't get lost in whatever other fun there is in life ( ) About my gamesCurrently I have a couple of C#/XNA games in the pipeline (that is, the big bulky closet where unfinished projects stay). One of them is Sticky Bump: a 2-4 player game for Xbox Live Indie. Casual and crazy, about bumper cars that chase, are being chased, bump, and collect traffic pylons. This is the game I'm fanatically working on now and which will be finished in a couple of months. Something completely different is the fishbowl. A platformer game about a man who's trapped inside a 3D cube, but can only travel over the 2D sides of that cube. A small arcade game is HyperDodge SpaceStuff, which has been ported to numerous platforms, including Android and Windows Phone 7. Especially the WP7 version is quite fun to play, and I really recommend it if you have a Windows Phone (free game). There's also Pedal Power, a LAN multiplayer kart game made in Unity3D; Kill2Kill, split-screen platformer shooter; and a couple of very old, but sometime funny, GameMaker games: KeeGamesThat's about it! Please have a look at my website if you're interested, or feel free to send me a message. Cheers! Jordin
