Very very intrigued by "the fishbowl", KeeWeed, I think the ambiance is really great and the concept has potential. I'll keep an eye on your blog! Cheers! Beer!

And yes, Poya, someone reads this thread... Tongue

Can't argue with an obligatory thread but...honestly, does anyone actually read this? Smiley
Yes. Welcome! I really like the content on your site. I think too often the masses think of games as mindless entertainment, which some of it is and that's fine, but awareness needs to be brought to the fact that interactive digital media comes in other flavors too.

Keep us updated and consider updating in the DevLogs section of the Feedback forum with excerpts from your dev blog.

Hi,

I've been lurking these forums for years now. I love this site and visit daily. You are all my heroes for having the passion to build games.

I've been attempting to be in game development for over a decade.  Unfortunately, other parts of life (school, expectations, women, etc...) seem to always get in the way. I've dabbled with designs for many, many games but I've never really finished one.  How novel, eh?

Either way, I begin law school in the fall and my goal is to finish a game before that happens. I used to have a game blog (http://bdillman.wordpress.com/) that I updated every so often for a short time. I mainly had it as a resume item but nothing ever worked out and thus I have succumbed to law.

Thanks for listening. I will let you know when I have the game I want to make.

Something completely different is the fishbowl. A platformer game about a man who's trapped inside a 3D cube, but can only travel over the 2D sides of that cube.

Your stuff looks great. Really like The Fishbowl looks really interesting, like the mechanics of it. You should start a devlog of it in the devlog forums so people can follow it  Smiley

Thanks for those reactions guys! Great to hear there is interest for 'the fishbowl'! I was a bit in doubt whether I would continue this project, but consider me convinced Wink
As soon Sticky Bump is done, I'll open a topic on the devlog forums.

Cheers!

Hi everybody! My name is Wayne and I've been a tigsource lurker for some time now. I finally decided to sign up for the forums and post one of these. I'm an artist, graphic designer, occasionally musician, and I write for a gaming website in my spare time.

Video games have always been a large part of my life since I was a kid. I grew up on Atari and Nintendo and I haven't stopped gaming since. Early energetic game music has molded my taste of music to what I enjoy, heroic nature of games kept my personality alignment in check, and my love for games and the desire to be part of games and the technology involved lead me to go to school for programming (which I failed out of) and pushed me into the front end portion of computing, art, and design. I hope to one day end up either doing web design for a game company or art assets for games (indie or otherwise). Games have even influenced a lot of my design and my taste for pixel icons and details. I'm pretty sure games will always be part of my life.

As for indie games, I always loved the mystery and intrigue that came along with games of my youth. This ended up leading me to more indie games as video games have matured seeing that there's a lot less "spoilerificness" from the media and in the games themselves. It hearkens to the days when I first played Metroid or the original Legend of Zelda where from right at the start of the game you just had a world open for you to explore. It's probably why some of my favorite games are Metroidvania style.

So...uh...hi! and maybe I'll work with one of you some day! SMB Castle Flag

Wayno - Welcome!

KeeWeed - Stickybump looked fun, 'though I had a hard time telling what was going on. Fishbowl really looks interesting. It reminds me of Continuity, which I also loved. So i'm especially looking forward to seeing how this progresses. It's hard to say without playing it but I imagine that it might be easy to lose one's bearings, even with only 6 screens... have you considered making each face of the cube a different (or slightly different) color?

Oh, and +1 for the use of obscure Pink Floyd in the trailer!  Smiley

Hi, I probably won't be posting too much around here, but I do enjoy lurking from time to time. I just got done finishing up a playable WIP version of a small game I've been working on, so I mainly wanted to get some feedback from the Feedback section here. But I guess it wouldn't hurt to introduce myself a little, right?

I have some programming ability, but I consider myself a below average programmer and I don't really have a great passion for it either... lol Undecided

I also consider myself to be somewhat artistic, but I wouldn't go so far as to call myself an artist.

I've been interested in video games in general (mainly playing them) since I was a kid and as I grew up I did get interested in game development a couple of times. About 5 or 6 years ago I tried my hand at the old Game Maker but didn't really end up understanding how to really use it (I was too young I think), also tried RPG Maker a couple years later but lost interest after a week or so of toying around with it.

I do follow the indie gaming scene from time to time, but most of the news I get about it are from sites like the IndieGames blog and mobile gaming sites. Never really browsed this site as frequently as those, really.  Embarrassed

Uhhh... So yeah. That's it about me I guess!

Yeah Pink Floyd would be perfect in this game, shame I can't use it. Hope to find some similar music or a musician who's capable of creating the same feeling. Gonna be tricky.
Yes, you really get lost easily. There are 6 rooms only, but you can enter them in 4 different ways, which basically makes it 24 rooms. That video is really WIP, there will be more decoration and I'm planning something for the background to give you a clue where you are in 3D space. The color thing was also in my mind, but I guess I don't like it aesthetically.

Sticky Bump has some unique rules, so it's hard to tell the gameplay from that video. Maybe I'll put in some rules/hints in the "official trailer". The idea is: white-bumpered cars collect traffic cones and bring them to the orange point, to score points; black-bumpered cars try to bump the white ones, in order to take over the white bumper.

Maybe I should start a new topic somewhere about these game to not entirely flood this topic  Embarrassed

Hi! I am Stephanie, I am a professional game developer that decided to try the indie life Smiley

I've been working on my first game, Deep Space Settlement (http://dss.stephanierct.com/) since February 2011. It's been a long road since then and I'm proud of what I have accomplished so far. :D
DSS is a Real Time Strategy game I wanted to make for a long time, it has been influenced by games I loved like Dune 2 (the first RTS I ever played), Settlers, X3, Galactic civilizations and others. Want to know more? follow me on twitter! http://twitter.com/#!/StephanieRct

Dune 2 was the best! Read the books because of that game.
Good luck with your project! I like the time thing Smiley

Hello TIGS-people!

My name is Axel! I am from Denmark! It's a pretty OK country.
I have been creeping around on the forums for a while and it seemed pretty awesome, so i decided to join!

I have played games for more-or-less as long as i can remember. I mostly played games on PC as i never had a gameboy or a PS2 Cry (It's OK though, I like PCs better anyway). One of my  favorite games from my childhood was the 2nd Harry Potter game. It was the first time i had played an "open-world" kind of game and it was very awesome and inspiring!

Recently i have been playing loads of indie-games and many of them have become some of my favorites!

I have been making games since i was 7-8 years old (i think) with Game Maker. Recently i have been playing around with FlashPunk and java. Haxe seems pretty cool too.

I am mostly a programmer, but i can do some semi-decent pixel art as well.

That's it for this introduction! Bye!

Evening, My names James Leonardo - age 16.
My gaming experience goes like this.

In the late 90s, early 00s I had a lot of DOS games on windows 98. One game, GODS really stuck with me. The graphics had a lot of detail and really sparked something. For a long time, all i was drawing were levels and bosses from GODS, and my own imaginative ideas. Now i think of it as my early stages of concept designing.

For a long time i hadn't taken any interest in video games, My brother would have the latest GameCube, Wii, PS3- but then i saw Angry video game nerd. It was especially his episode on the Atari 5200 that sparked my interest with the 2600, then all the NES games made me love that time of Nintendo. From then on, it was all retro consoles. Atari, NES, Mega Drive and so on.

In 2008, I started coming up with new ideas, taking inspiration from games reviewed by AVGN, Ashens, and LarryBuddyJr - Also Mario, Sonic, Zelda and Amiga games, since my dad was really into the Amiga but hadn't known about his animations till then (http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_profilepage&v=12BUxn-Ih0o)
I came up with something of a series eventually called AXRIA, AXRIA Retro World being the most recent and first finished game of mine.

Since then, I've been making game after game on Game Editor, and have also found interest in more obscure games like Mr Gimmick & Turrican.

Well, its been quite a journey, but i hope i can settle in here. This looks like a good place to talk about indie games!
